Bob Beamon's Record-shattering Long Jump - 1968 Olympics

Bob Beamon destroys the world record by nearly two feet at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. This jump gave rise to the term "beamonesque" to describe an outstanding feat. He never got close to it again the rest of his life. The record was beaten in 1991 by Mike Powell, but it is still the Olympic record, and remains known as "The Leap of the Century".
