A nice photomontage accompanies Elliott Smith's brilliant cover of Because by The Beatles.

Lame.

Almost an exact replica in terms of style and tone, only the vocals are less crisp in Smith's version.

It's not brilliant to imitate brilliance.

That's just my opinion.

I, on the other hand, think that this version is much better than the original (which is here btw. http://www.videosift.com/video/The-Beatles-Because ). Smith's voice is much better in harmony than the Beatles version and in general the song here has a nicer sound.
