Battle Royale: death montage (fantastic Japanese film, 2000)

I second that: Takeshi Kitano For The Win!

P.S: If you're in the UK - the sequel Battle Royale 2: Requiem is on channel 4 tonight at 11:15 (or here on YouTube) Although, it's no-where near as good as the first Battle Royale (link in first post, above).

You and your paranoid delusions Farhad : I checked very early in my Sift submitting time (a couple of months ago) what videos were up here. Although I didn't find James Roe's Battle Royale trailer (linked above), which I planned to post instead of this [probably because he missed the E in Royale!)

Anyway, I thought your Battle Royale in 10 seconds was weak (hence why I didn't vote until it came up in the similar videos list). Plus, using your logic: you were inspired by the trailer posted by James Roe; before your '10 seconds' of dissapointment!

P.S: What do you mean 'Sift idea again obviously stolen'? From what?...

the reason why this was such a hit in Japan was because most Japanese public schools are run like private/catholic schools in America. Lotta pent up frustration of teachers trying to keep their kids 'uniform' while making them dress in one as well.

So a fantastical world where people losing it and going on a killing frenzy may have delighted its viewers. Of course, in America, the only thing we can relate to something like this is Columbine.

Different world, different audience.

BTW, if you liked this flim and you're an American. That proves that you're a terrorist!!

The director Kinji Fukasaku was about 70 years old when he made this movie, and he said that he was carrying the idea for a movie like that all through his life since his childhood, which was during WW2. He tried to get over his terrible memories with the film and give young people a kind of an imagination what that was all about - the tensions, the fear, ... So the whole thing really makes sense and is a great piece of film history, but often misunderstood.

So, I found the full version on Google, tried to sift it here, and somebody discarded it as a dupe, which it isn't.

Is the reason nobody will save it because it's hotlinked in these comments (something I didn't know when I submitted) or because the person who discarded my submission (and the person who discarded his own attempt to submit the full version two weeks ago) didn't even bother looking close enough to notice the difference and now won't fix his mistake.

Tick tock, tick tock.
