Bank Robbers Holding Hostages in Portugal

2 men held up a bank yesterday (August 7 2008) in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, a city and country unaccustomed with such violent crime.

Initially the robbers had 6 hostages, but the portuguese police managed to negotiate the release of 4 of them. One of them was an elderdly woman who was suffering a sever anxiety attack. In their control remained the Bank Manager (a 33 year old woman), and an employee.

After 8 ours of a tense situation, the robbers, two men with brazilian accents (although their nationality is still not confirmed) came to the door of the bank holding guns up to the hostages heads to negotiate with the police.

Surprisingly enough (or not) the portuguese police managed to kill one of the robbers and seriously injure the other.
Both hostages are safe and unharmed.

The first robber is taken out by police snipers at around 40 seconds in, then the police storms the place, and incapacitates the other criminal.
