Most animals prefer non-still water. Health wise, moving water is less apt to be ridden with bacteria. You can preform this experiment with your own pets. If you have a dog and take him on a walk, have a bowl of water near a water faucet. Fill the bowl, set it to the side, but leave the faucet cracked open. Most likely, it will attempt to drink the water right out of the faucet, unless he is highly trained to drink from the bowl.
