Ann Druyan (Carl Sagan's wife) has a message about Marijuana

As Former President of the NORML Advisory Board, and her shared interest with her husband in spreading knowledge, this plea from Ann Druyan finds a home in my heart & thoughts.

Lol she is using public speaking techniques on what is meant to seem like a webcam recorded you-tube video. Its just weird and a bit a of a fail (bearing in mind she has access to people that produce this sort of thing for a living and this video is likely to be watched by a large number of people due to her fame / position)

Her message non the less is good and an important one just a shame that the whole canned public speech methods let the video down and make it come across less sincere and personal than it would do otherwise (and is in contradiction to the setting and feel they were obviously aiming for with the video)

As this video strongly implies, Carl Sagan was a recreational marijuana user. From Wikipedia:

Sagan was a user and advocate of marijuana. Under the pseudonym "Mr. X", he contributed an essay about smoking cannabis to the 1971 book Marihuana Reconsidered.[47][48] The essay explained that marijuana use had helped to inspire some of Sagan's works and enhance sensual and intellectual experiences. After Sagan's death, his friend Lester Grinspoon disclosed this information to Sagan's biographer, Keay Davidson. The publishing of the biography, Carl Sagan: A Life, in 1999 brought media attention to this aspect of Sagan's life.

Also, I didn't notice anything "stagey" or otherwise about the video. I think that's just how she speaks...

Why do half the professionally produced video clips on the internet look like they were filmed by a drunk asshole? Do they not teach tripod use in film school anymore? Yes, I understand it's supposed to emulate the look of home video, but it doesn't. It does a better job emulating Katherine Hepburn if she were behind the camera.

yah its produced but what im saying is its been produced in a way to make it seem as if its a natural personal video ( low camra angle , camara shake , dog, bedroom seting , seating posture) yet given all that she talks in a manor that is used for formal public speeches and thats what makes it seem weird and contrived.

This video would have been improved by her medicating her dog while she addressed us, by blowing smoke into a paper bag and then putting it over the dogs head.

In this case a locked off camera might make the subject appear preachy given the contents of the address.
