Ann Coulter Crashes and Burns on BBC's Hardtalk

In America politics is fast becoming a media bloodsport. The default style for much of the most popular political commentary on TV, radio and the web has become the fury-filled polemic.

Ann Coulter has made a successful career out of causing offence. She dismisses American liberals as Godless traitors and she revels in the vitriolic abuse she gets from her political enemies. She says that this is all part of political debate but is the language and tone corroding America's political culture?

--Straight from the BBC

I saw this interview last night and I thoroughly enjoyed her trying to spout American political rhetoric at a non-American.

Wishful thinking. The promised "drubbing" of A.C. never arrived.

Is the argument that Bush really attempted "nation-building" in Afghanistan? There were 30K troops in Afghanistan when he left office.

At that time, Harry Reid, Democrat Senate Leader, said: “I am stunned that President Bush has decided to bring so few troops home from Iraq and send so few resources to Afghanistan.” So according to Reid, 30K troops wasn't/isn't enough.

Obama's curious decision to keep the Afghan war going just doesn't make sense. I was surprised he betrayed his fanbase's wishes to leave.

It's obvious His Earness has no intention of winning over there, and has either gone along with or even developed all the bull$hit "rules" that make it impossible to win. You don't set timelines when you're fighting a war; you win it.

There's a very good case for getting the hell out of Afghanistan. Probably public opinion will end it along with the removal of His Earness in 2012.

Completely irrelevant to her "politics", but holy jesus that still of her at the beginning and end. She has some hideous legs and arms; cover yourself up woman, long blonde hair doesn't = automatic attractiveness!

Welcome Ann Coulter, to a country that has a functional media with journalists who actually research and understand the topics they plan to discuss with you and will call you out on your BS. She crashed that badly on the CBC too.

You know, I'd almost agree...except the fact she is on any sort of news or debate show at all is proof of the BBC making exactly the same mistake the American news stations make. Stop giving these ignorant morons airtime. There are 1000 more interesting people with something of actual merit to say, instead we got this banshee spouting rubbish.

Stop giving these ignorant morons airtime.

I partially agree. There's a delicate balance.

Too much airtime takes up valuable time that could be used to discuss other topics.
Not enough airtime prevents people from forming their own opinions.

The balance is just enough to say, "... and in other news, this bitch is still crazy! Check this out:"
