Anderson Cooper Destroys GOP Head Over Obama School Speech

StukaFoxsays...

Did this screeching douchebag really just tell someone else THEY had made this a partisan issue?!

Also: I'd no more worry about my kids becoming a socialist from listening to Obama than I'd worry about my kid becoming a dumbfuck from listening to Bush.

I don't know if I should be disgusted or terrified of Greer's statement at ~7:20.

"New ideas!?!?" *eeek* *rabble rabble rabble*

The repubs need to pull their head out of the sand and get out of their "Leave it to Beaver" 1950's.

I, as a teacher, never received any lesson plans. This is an(other) attempted play by the evangelical right showing it's ass. They were sore winners for 8 years, and now they are sore losers! sad state they putting themselves in...at the country's expense.

In one of the early news article on this topic, they gave examples of some of the questions they were suggesting that the teachers could ask.

They were all QUESTIONS to the kids. What do you think... blah blah.

I have found that a lot of conservatives do not like their children to question authority, nor do they want their children exposed to different ideas.

I have been offended by this partisan attack on the president since the moment I first heard about it.

I can only hope that the Republicans are making such asses of themselves, are being so obviously obstructionist, that they are going to continue to distance themselves from the average American. And that can only be good for the Democratic Party.

Just to be clear, I don't think that all Republicans are the spawn of the devil. I don't agree with all of their policies, however, they do have a point of view and have different things that are important to them. It is important that the Dems and Reps work together to craft policies that are moderate -- I know those are fighting words to progressives -- and they are fighting words to the far right.

We have got to stop fighting and start discussing.

We are killing this country. My prediction.

Here's what I brilliantly said in another thread on this topic... It's so brilliant that I'll repeat it here.

But for people who are getting their panties in a bunch over the Republicans for this - all I can say is 'grow up'. For 8 years the Democrats attacked anything and everything GWB did. For 8 years Republicans attacked anything and everything Clinton did. For 12 years Democrats attacked anything/everything Reagan/Bush1 did. This is just how the game is played. To act like it is some sort of outrageous, 'new low' in politics is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Don't like it? Well - you bloody well better get used to it because Obama has at least 3.4 long year more of it. Being the President means you're eating a crap sandwich every day, and you have to do it with a smile on your face, whether it's fair or not. Deal with it.

"We have got to stop fighting and start discussing."

I have generally found that when a liberal says, "we need to stop fighting and start discussing" it typically means, "you conservatives should stop opposing us and just let us do whatever we want." Liberals didn't seem very interested in 'discussing' in the Bush years. In fact, for a long time the liberal watchword was that 'opposition is the new patriotism'. Now all of sudden they want the opposition to just shut up and go away. Doesn't work that way guys.

More total bullshit coming from a guy who doesn't know the meaning of the word "neolib" yet uses it in almost every post.

There was no compromise in the Bush years because the cons consider compromise as a form of weakness, plus they're a bunch of sadistic control-freak pricks who thought the sight of dead Iraqi children was a threat to national security.

Winstonfield_Pennypackersays...

I know what the word neolib means because I'm the one who invented it, so your accusation that I am misapplying it is erroneous. And I'm very certain that neolibs such as yourself can find any number of excuses to justify knee-jerk opposition to every conservative policies.

But you know what? As far as I'm concerned, you don't need to bother justifying your opposition. You come from an opposing political philosophy. That's perfectly OK with me. What makes America great is that people can oppose their government freely for whatever reason they wish. I support and applaud your particular brand of mindless, propoganda inspired reactionism.

Sadly, this kind of generosity is not mutual on your side. Pelosi, Reed, all the liberal pundits, Obama, his advisors, Gibbs, and just about everyone who opens their mouth on the neolib side of the aisle... They all have suddenly had a change of heart on the issue of freedom of speech and expression since the election. Now, conservative opposition is 'obstructionist', and is even referred to as 'dangerous' and 'counter-productive' to the country. Basically, now that they run the show the neolibs want to kneecap freedom of speech & thought whenever it slows down their agenda, or make 'their guy' look bad.

Pretty sad really. I didn't agree with the tactic when conservatives tried to shut up opposition under the guise of 'patriotism'. I sure as shooting don't agree with it when snooty neolibs are doing it for no reason except to grease the skids of an unpopular political agenda.
