Amateur scientist + fire + gas = predictable disaster

I'm assuming he's amateur given his fashion-crime lab coat, his slow and generally unconcerned reaction to what he just did, AND the fact that he takes some time to even think about putting out the fire.

Why there aren't multiple shards of glass in his face I just don't know! Luck was one his side it seems.
