I would assume from the tags that the gas in question is sulfur hexaflouride, a gas which is 5 times heavier than air.

Either that or Xenon.

I remember sulfur hexaflouride being cool because of its interesting simple structure AND because it purportedly causes your voice to be LOWERED, just like helium causing your voice to be higher, upon speaking after inhalation.

Oh good I'm glad you like it! Yes its just sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) which is extremely dense and unreactive. Xenon would work also but not quite as well since its slightly less dense, its very expensive too.

Legacy, I'm quite certain your gas is light and expands rapidly. At least it should, for greater effect.
It would probably melt the tin foil boat though...
