'Alive in Joburg is a science fiction short film directed by Neill Blomkamp, released in 2005 by Spy Films. It runs approximately six minutes long and was filmed in Johannesburg, South Africa. It is noted for its visual effects as well as its documentary-style imagery.'

Blomkamp is the guy now doing the Halo film btw, and he's still only 27.

the story is a really interesting concept, I don't think an alien invasion has ever been portrayed in this manner, it makes for some very good social commentary, thus attaining the goal of being good sci-fi

Unfortunately he's not doing the Halo movie right now... No one is. It's not cancelled, but it is on hold, since the studios who were gonna finance it backed out of the deal, and fortunately Bungie and Microsoft, don't want it to be a Lame fest, so they're trying to get it done the right way.

a very interesting take on alien contact. In every other film or show aliens are portrayed as aggressive invaders that either kill or convert everything they meet but these aliens are galactic refugees. Cool idea!
