kulpimssays...aipac - the untouchables. no discussion allowed
marinarasays...I'm angry enough to withhold heat, water, and food from some Palestinian infants.
AIPAC doesn't want to sit down at the table with Iran. We know why, because Iran isn't bound and gagged and anyone who can talk can make accusations and speak the history of Israel.
fissionchipssays...AIPAC calls the shots when it comes to US
foreignwar policy. I keep coming back to this speech and thinking, how do you begin to fix a political system that is entirely corrupt?
Rambaldisays...So what were they trying to say exactly? That AIPAC is not open to discussion? Why would AIPAC be open to discussion? It's a pro-Israel LOBBYIST group. It's not a democratic organization chosen by the people of the United States. The United States government, however, IS, and if people don't want to vote for candidates that support AIPAC, no one's forcing them.
Going into an AIPAC conference and asking that question is the equivalent of going into a mosque and asking why Islamic terrorists blew up the WTC - it's just plain silly. Unfortunately, so is expecting objectivity from Al Jazeera.
Marinara, it's not AIPAC's job to sit down at the table with Iran, that's the US government's job. Unfortunately, when Iran's leaders speak about wiping countries off the map, it's understandable why one would be reluctant to talk to them.

I think that is where the contention lies, the major party system simply does not allow people who are critical of AIPAC or it's polices, much less the policies of Israel, to win a major party endorsement, and therefor have a realistic chance of being elected to office in the US.
I can, and have voted for candidates who oppose AIPACs polices, but in a winner take all system, such as we have in the US, such votes for minor party candidates don't end up changing policy ,and at times they even work in the other direction, such as Florida 2000.
