#7 Commercial of the Year - Travelers Insurance

From Time's Top 500 Commercials of 2009

"How do you sell insurance without bumming everyone out or boring people so much that they might actually welcome a catastrophic event? The folks who make ads for insurance companies seem to lean a little too heavily on our nonhuman brethren (geckos and Neanderthals, we're looking at you). But in this case, it works. Minimal dialogue, a mournful song and a shaggy, haggard, utterly adorable mutt fretting about his treasure all speak volumes. Travelers' other ad, with a flotilla of its signature red umbrella, has the looks, but this one has the personality.

I didn't get it. Commercial of the year? yeah right, they probably made the "Award" themselves to get free ad space the viral way.

How is this viral in any way? I don't even watch tv hardly ever, and I saw this on tv before I ever saw it on the internet. And it's not pretending to be a non-ad either.

But how does a dog do all of those things without money or thumbs? >:[ This commercial is full of lies and deceit.
