A driver was forced to swim back to shore after he reversed his car into a reservoir in southeastern China.

The CCTV video, filmed in Shangrao City in Jiangxi Province on July 16, shows the car suddenly speeding backwards into a reservoir as the driver attempted to turn his vehicle around.

The driver can be seen clambering out of the vehicle through the driver's window and swimming to the shore.

The driver accidentally hit the wrong pedal when he was reversing and sped into the reservoir, according to reports.
