Jackie Chan's Ten Greatest Hits
I think the final fight in Young Master (1980) is better (strangely it doesn't fit the broken 1-2 style of the fights earlier in the movie). My favorite from Jackie
"yet name one decent american film he's done..."
Well Rumble in the Bronx was pretty good. People also hate on Rush Hour but it did a very good job with the buddy formula. There's a reason why it was shown on TBS like 50 times along with Shanghai Noon. Anyway, if you watch his "My Stunts" he foreshadows experimenting with CGI and we know how that turned out (Medallion, Tuxedo).
As lucky120 mentioned "New police Story" (2004) is one of his better movies which makes you wonder why his recent American productions are so terrible (too ambitious, experimental maybe, no idea)
Ray Kurzweil - The Singularity: A Hard or Soft Takeoff?
Lots of hand waving but provocative. I find the singularity argument completely unconvincing (now and when I first heard it in 1999) but it's fun in a way to think about future technology without worrying too much about constraints. There's a lot of excess skepticism from the hubris in the 80s and 90s.
I'm glad to see Kurzweil not only leaning on computer power but I don't think it constitutes a good argument to say imaging is getting better, therefore one should believe all problems will be solved on some arbitrary timeline. There's also subtle backpedaling. In 1999 he was talking about uploading the contents of actual brains into computers. Funny, considering there isn't even a glimmer of physically possible technology to achieve that. Many are optimistic but his time scale is absurd.

Ax or Ask: bad grammar of African Americans
This reminds me of Pinker's language mavens:
http://pinker.wjh.harvard.edu/articles/media/1994_01_24_thenewrepublic.html
"I hope to have convinced you of two things. Many prescriptive rules are just plain dumb and should be deleted from the usage handbooks. And most of standard English is just that, standard, in the sense of standard units of currency or household voltages. It is just common sense that people should be given every encouragement and opportunity to learn the dialect that has become the standard one in their society and to employ it in many formal settings. But there is no need to use terms like "bad grammar," "fractured syntax," and "incorrect usage" when referring to rural and Black dialects. Though I am no fan of "politically correct" euphemism (in which, according to the satire, "white woman" should be replaced by "melanin-impoverished person of gender"), using terms like "bad grammar" for "nonstandard" is both insulting and scientifically inaccurate."

Doom3 and not Undying? The startle scares in Undying were actually startling, unlike Doom3 which had a monster coming predictably out of every corner/hidden wall.
Borat threatens catapult war on Uzbekistan
his fake accent was kind of breaking up there
Shaolin Soccer
the bad music that someone edited in kind of ruined it for me.
Noam Chomsky on 911 conspiracy claims
A 911 conspiracy is about as believable as a faked moon landing, and we've seen all the stupid non sequiturs that have been adduced to try to prove that. You don't have to know much philosophy of science to recognize that the evidence for this kind of conspiracy is ridiculously weak and rather rely on ignorance (which is why it's so difficult to convince some people - the incompetent tend to be the most unaware of their level of competence). Chomsky's comment about patterns is apt here. Patterns are relatively easy to perceive (see astrology or the japanese blood type theory of personality) but it's proof that is important, not tendentious appeals to "logical" form or equivocal events.
Can Tossers
Reminds me of:
http://www.gougoule.com/bonus/basket2.php
It's not only editing but the perception that you are randomly hitting shots. I used to play a lot of pick up basketball and I could hit all sorts of weird shots playing horse but they were all really set shots - move about two feet to the left and it would be a lot more difficult for me to hit. Right in the beginning of the video a guy hits a trash can that isn't even in plain view. Pretty obvious how rehearsed it is.

the mention of duke nukem reminded me of the shrink gun. you could shrink someone and then step on them. a little more satisfying than a freeze gun and not as cheap.
Every Guy's Dream?
"the 14-24 age group is the central focus of body spray marketers, who say that even kids as young as 11 are using sprays regularly"
"While P&G says Old Spice leads in overall volume and penetration, Axe jumped ahead in deodorant sales and drew near in the body wash category"
Every Guy's Dream?
that's a pretty subtle message. 3 dollar eau de toilette for the win.
Knife fight training video - Don't get into a knife fight
think the guy in the video got it right (Vunack?). run away or avoid getting in a knife fight in the first place. read martial arts forums and people are talking about getting in fights. i havent been in a fight since high school and even then it was a joke. i dont work at a convenience store and i'm not a cop, dont go to nightspot meat markets. voila, won't ever get stabbed unless it's by someone i know.
