While your statistics are correct in pointing out that medicare medicaid cost more per person when compared to private insurance you have to take in to account what populations each insurance program is covering. Medicare and Medicaid cover the elderly, the poor, and the young. These populations are usually in worse health and require more medical attention than compared to the healthy population of the private insurance.

Mayday Immigration Reform Demonstration

I think the point that is being missed is that this was a protest citizens and non-citiznes took to the street to voice their opinions and were met whith forceful opposition from the police. America is a nation of liberty won by protest and if this attack by police is the consequence of stating ones view the very core of American idealogy is being attacked. Well unless you see American idealogy to be of upresssion against those who do not agree with the current political agenda. Then this becomes normal and you are not unlike North Korea or Iran or anyother tyranny in the world.

Lets see I used to be an illegal immigrant and now i'm a resident who is on his way to becoming a doctor. I've payed my taxes the whole time ive been here because I came at a time where you could still get a social security card without too much hasle. Immigration is what this country is about and at one point or another someone in you family imigrated to America for the same reason that these people are immigrating to America today. Ask them how they go here an I'm sure many of them will say illegaly.
You can't deport illegals out of the country or imprison them that would cost too much. So, why not just give them status as alien residents forcing them to pay taxes.

Just by the way why do you think they are leaving Mexico, might it be because of NAFTA and how cheap subsidized produce and food stuffs flooded the Mexican market pushing local farms out of business or maybe how companies get tax rebates for building factories in mexico and once those run out they just move the company to a country that has still cheaper labor.

Hmm do some research nothing is as simple as it seems.
