People complain about this constantly, but I think it's more a problem with youtube and other video sites than with the cell phones.

Holding a phone in portrait mode, you're capturing just as many pixels. For some scenes you might be capturing a more relevant set of pixels, as well.

It's just that the videos are needlessly squished because the Youtube player won't resize accordingly.

I think this guy's reasoning is solid about all of the observed phenomena. I think cavitation is the correct explanation for the top of the bottling being sucked in. It's non-intuitive, but I think it's pretty clear that the explosion creates some very low pressure areas.

I think if you're that close to the bear and already moving at that kind of speed when you first see it you're probably better off just booking it like this guy did.

1. Stop
2. Show a short threat display (arms wide, yell, shake a branch, throw a large rock)
3. Back away
