I will put that on my list of things to do when I go visit my brother in the summer (he's teaching English in Seoul)... I am also saving my videosift T-shirt for when we visit the DMZ!

Condor Heroes and Wuxia in General (Blog Entry by lucky760)

I saw some episodes (installments?) from these series several years ago... they play in Ann Arbor on one of the international channels that is part of the expanded cable package I no longer get. They air in Chinese, with English subtitles (sometimes), and are shown during the day like a soap opera.

As I am familiar with some of the historical novels this genre is based on, like Monkey King, and the Warrior Hero tales from the Warring States Period, I thought they were kind of fun, and not too terribly dissimilar from Sam Raimi's Hercules or Xenia Warrior Princess, although lacking in the self deprecating camp humor that popularized those two shows, the LOCH and ROCH episodes were kind of cool in the same way that they took old old old stories, and reinvented them in a serialized fashion for modern audiences. I can see getting addicted to them if I had the time.

Yeah maybe, I watched it, and there is not much to report... they basically spent about 10 minutes on it, and just replayed a lot of stuff from the vid and focused on whether or not Tom Cruise was #2 in the church or not, and why he got into it in the first place, and some of the basic history of the Church and celebs... they interviewed the author of that new biography, and talked to Tom's Lawyer... there wasn't a whole lot of critical thinking going on though, and they stayed away from the really creepy and interesting subjects like Tom's wish for there to be no SP's in the future (SP= suppressive people, so basically, us), or the claims about how he has saved people's lives or cured "Ground Zero cough", which, frankly, I would like verified, as I've never heard of that before and it seems highly inflated.

But, that's what you get, 20/20, like most American 'journalism' these days, is utter fluff... they soon moved on to another fluff piece about how the mayor of a small town in Oregon posted pics of herself in a bikini (her hobby is weight training and body building, so, go fig) on her MySpace page and the ensuing small town fracas it has caused, but yet again, failed to ask any interesting questions that are fundamental to the story, mostly they just interviewed some old guys at a barbershop... sigh...

sounds fun. hopefully if its good, that will get on th net too.

There is a special 20/20 scheduled for tonight at 10 that is supposed to address it... I am counting down the minutes.

You have to love how the internet is so determined not to let this die, and how that has matched their determination to take this down.

If this clip ever gets shown on national news somewhere, just cos, I'd love to hear about it.

If you want to, feel free, a number of other people have been doing so as well... the link to the host should be in that thread somewhere, I believe Thylan linked to it, it's on gawker.com. But Gawker, has vowed not to remove it as it feels that it is newsworthy and that the Scientologists can go fuck themselves (that's pretty much what they said on their website, Gawker is awesome!), so I think that for now it should be pretty stable, until the lawsuits start flying anyway (although this vid did just appear on 20/20 last night as well, so the church very well may give up at this point)... but it will probably be up on Gawker for a lot longer than anyplace you could upload it to, even with fake title and tags. A lot of the sources I used initially did the same thing (one was called "the borg"!) yet the Scientologists were able to find them... so either they know about us and they followed the embeds to their sources, or, as I've posited elsewhere, Xenu has implanted chips in their brains or something that makes them all wet themselves each time the vid is uploaded. Whatever their methods, they're astoundingly quick to respond, and I imagine they issued a fatwa of sorts to all the big hosts and have threatened them to the point that YouTube and Google pretty much automatically removes them now.

Thanks for offer though.

Give me the embed for that video, and I will host it for you with fake title/tags. There's too much good humor in there to let it die!

In reply to this comment by raven:
I fix it for you! *lies

Also, would someone please do me a favor and throw a promote at this thing... put it back to the top of the Sifted list so more people get a chance to watch it before Xenu and his minions find our new source code?

I will say though, that it is interesting that they claim to have helped all those people, the 911 workers etc... because up until now, I can't say I've ever heard of any of these initiatives (but then again I don't watch Oprah, or, ugh, Entertainment Tonight). I'd always thought of them as never giving back in anyway and I've kind of held that against them... also, I wonder how true any of these claims are... I DEMAND EVIDENCE!

I mean, how can I not? I just saw these people saluting a gigantic image of L. Ron Hubbard!

I've noticed that sometimes when I click to play this, it redirects me to the putfile website . Anyone else having this problem? If its going to be a huge issue I will replace it with the YouTube playlist I made... but the problem with that is that it will inevitably get taken down.

Well I'll be... I did, uhg, I must've been having an off day yesterday, rare that I misread a map though, eeek... but it makes so much more sense now, although it is much more alarming, because now its quite apparent that there are more 'not free' countries, than there are 'partly free' ones.
