I was entering Italy from France six years ago, and my propane car stalled. The two cops who pulled me over for going too slow must have screamed at me for ten minutes (locals, not cabinieri) until my Italian friend circled her car back and found us (four Americans) and slipped them some money. The cops just kept yelling, and never slowed down long enough for us to understand, much less respond, to any questions. Worst experience in Europe ever.
