Icy Roads In Portland: Vehicular Pinball!!!
lordhaywireIm not sure that is SW 20th and Salmon. I walk down 19th every day to work, including that most amazing Snow Day. If it is, yes, that part of Salmon is really steep. You cant tell from the video.
People kept driving because Portland isnt used to snow, and because other roads were safe. Burnside was running almost like normal, even without snow plows.
Snow Day was one of the best days of my life. I never in my life, never, have found humans to be so nice and friendly to each other.
Everywhere I went it was a party. People were running around in the streets, offering me sled rides, or skiing past, or trying to get me to drink with them, or just wanting to hang out with some strange guy walking down the street (me).
I wish every day people acted like they did on Snow Day. It was euphoric (sp?).

But look at it this way, your talking with one of your friends and he sprays you in the face with a bottle of water.
You just laugh, slap your side and say, "Man, your funny! You got me."
No you dont, you say, "What the fuck? Why did you do that?"
That is what he did. He asked why did he do that?
I actually had no respect for Tom Cruise until I saw that video. He wasnt angry or anything like that, he just asked, "Why did you do that?" And when the guy couldnt respond, he called him a jerk. Which is pretty tame compared to what I would call someone who out of the blue sprayed me in the face with water.
