That guy is actually arguing that he shouldn't get a ticket for going 80 in a 55 because it's only "5 over" what everybody else is doing... What a dumb-ass. This was hardly a scientific experiment, they were so biased going into it. In most places, driving the speed limit is not dangerous. Stay in the right lane and you won't be bothering anybody.

Of course he's saying a lot of the "right things" and so far I think he's doing a good job of seeming like less of a politician than the others. His book has a lot to do with that. I've watched The Colbert Report since its debut, and I must admit that I didn't really catch on to what his whole shtick is about for about a week. I think a lot of people at this event reacted to him with a similar sense of befuddlement. It's actually brilliant satire. I was glad to see him get the chance to use it in a situation like this.

I remember watching that show. I've seen at least 70% of all Daily Show episodes before and since. I believe that Jon has always embodied the sentiments he shared that night. The whole concept of grieving without despairing is central to what he does. That's exactly why he and millions of American's like him can feel deeply about the tragedy of 9-11 and still not fall victim to the fear-mongering of corrupt politicians.
