The case to rename this famous Christmas plant
Not so inconsistent with how Christianity has been practiced in the past (Spanish Inquisition ring a bell, anyone?) and the looting of resources of native cultures by "Missionaries"... even to the extent of hijacking a pre-Christian "pagan" celebration (winter solstice) in order to draw adherents... Why pick at historical nits when there are much more impactful transgressions related to the holiday celebration???
The origins of oil falsely defined in 1892
utter nonsense - but shows how thoroughly uninformed people can so easily be misled to draw ruinously incorrect conclusions...
Newsroom in Japan Experiences 7.3-Magnitude Earthquake
Interesting that NO one actually followed recommended procedures during an earthquake - drop-cover-hold-on... Even in a newsroom where people are presumably educated on how to respond to an earthquake...
Ukraine on Fire
Interesting accounting of Ukraine history - this is clearly the Russian version....
STUDY: $500 Per Month Life Changing For The Homeless
I liked this site much better when I didn't have to wade through so much political grandstanding and bloviating... could we just ban the politics and enjoy some interesting and insightful videos?
How Much Solar Energy is Needed to Power Earth?
why is it that all these renewable energy prosthelytizers can never articulate a coherent solution/end game? He is right, the number of pv cells needed to generate the required electrical energy is irrelevant - that is only a part - and possibly only a small part - of the problem. He gets us to all the required PV panels, but glosses over the question of storage, hydrogen, how hydrogen can be stored, air transport, etc. etc. etc. What's the point of a video like this? Waste of time and electrons...
The Myth Of The "Self-Made" Billionaire
what utter horse manure. Everyone that is successful must be an exploiter... every worker is downtrodden...
New Zealand PSA - Trade School
Butt-Welding would have gotten him grounded for life...
New Zealand PSA - Trade School
That last line is genius. Two days later and I'm still laughing...
Arthur C. Clarke predicts the future in 1976
Quite interesting interview. I wonder how many people watching this recognized, and have personally heard, the telephone ring tone that was playing toward the end of the video... ALL telephones used to sound like that.
Afghanistan: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)
even though it is entertaining watching you jokers pi$$ing on each others' shoes, anyone wasting his/her time arguing over the validity of a comedian's analysis of international diplomacy qualifies, in my books, as a fool.
never argue with a jackass - you can never raise his IQ and you will only lower your own...
TSUNAMI Height Comparison | 3D
truly horrible comparison - as vil says, ocean tsunamis are nothing like a typical ocean wave - they encompass a massive volume of water thousands of times larger than an ocean wave of similar height. The damage they do is largely the result of that massive volume of water coming ashore...
The Watermelon Joke That Saved Me After I Got Pulled Over
Just so we have a little context... I heard that joke AT LEAST 50 years ago... before jokes were had to be both funny and PC...
The Whole History of the Earth and Life - Finished Edition
very nicely done summary of earth's history - although some pretty speculative inferences about the evolutionary process detracts from the credibility of the whole.
Tacoma Police Car Plows Through Crowd
Don't really understand the mentality of some of the comments above. So, if a police officer attempts to put a stop to an illegal activity , the perpetrators of that activity are free to attack the police officer and put his or her life in danger? It seems that you think we're all free to obey the laws we feel like obeying and blow off the rest - and if we do, then the police shouldn't take any effort to stop us? Sounds like a quick path to anarchy.
