I remember agreeing with Mr. Olbermann on just about everything c.2004. Now I mostly see a liberal Bill O'Reilly. I applaud many of his points & turns of phrase, but the man's become a blowhard, & it saddens me. Rhetoric run amok, contaminating truth.

Admirable synopsis. Shame it neglects to speak to the audience it claims to. You know how to make your point to you. If you truly want to change things, consider the ways in which others think. Cultural evolution also takes time.

I'm a liberal & voted for Obama yesterday, but does it not bother anyone that this video is as one-sided as many from the opposite camp decried here? They edit x amount of footage down into three minutes of the most hateful stuff said by the most ignorant people they find, but the follow-up Obama supporter footage is all smiles set to a rallyish campaign song?

It's insulting. I doubt you'd find quite the same level of vitriol in the Obama camp, but you'd get some strong & unfortunate statements, enough to spin a counterpoint.

Know thy enemy means understand thy enemy. Regardless of the frustrating shenanigans pulled by Fox News & the like, I'm disturbed that the smugness I sense in our own ranks means maybe we haven't learned the true lesssons of the current administration.

The Kool-aid comes in many flavors, friends. Let's not be too thirsty.

A huge point (around 2:10) for me was the short-term schedule upon which media companies are expected to generate profit. In other words, soundbites and fluff are a natural pursuit when you're being judged quarterly.

I was fortunate enough to catch these two years ago at a Missouri bar that sat maybe 50. It was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I haven't seen them live since, but I've heard an (intensely) devoted fanbase ensures their concerts are always odd and exquisite.

Overall I found this annoying and pedantic, but the visual design is brilliant.

I think Bill, lamentably, gets the better in this conversation, & I'm not sure why it's gotten so many votes. Ron does a good job but there's no rally cry here.

There's a whole Metafilter thread discussing the Cebu Prison inmates performing "Thriller." This vid's info (& most the info available) seems to come from a single Vice Magazine article about Cebu. "Thriller" ain't the only number they've performed.
