Portal - 8 portals in chamber 18 - absolutely amazing

Meh, although it seems impressive I don't like how several times in the level the player loaded from previous save points. And worst of all, it blatantly noticiable. It would have been a lot better if they did it in one continuous session. Downvote from me. Edit: Just realized I can't downvote. So, no vote from me.

Co-Pilot Cat can has soft landing?

VirtualMirage says...

Cute kitty! I'm on the fence of whether it is a bengal or not. The wife and I have two bengals, one spotted and the other marbled. This kitty seems to have a combination of both spots and marbling (this could be due to it being a kitten and some spots are merged and won't seperate out until fully grown), which is something you don't typically see in a classified full bred bengal. And it is probably a kitten, but the meow doesn't sound much like a bengal. Bengals tend to howl more the meow. The ears look fine, but something is off with the face. Bengals also have a necklace around their neck. Better judgment could be made if the cat wasn't laying down and if the video wasn't a little washed out.

Murphy's Law + Skydiving = 3rd Degree Burns?!

Arrendek, I was thinking the same thing as soon as the "victim" said that. It's probably why he got electrocuted since he was aiming for the pole to safely "ground" himself. Hmmmmm....while Wile E. Coyote consistently had bad luck, at least he was smart enough to know how things worked! Definitely EiA classification for this guy.

The Top 20 Coolest Guitar Riffs

VirtualMirage says...

What, no "Through The Fire and Flames" by DragonForce? Oh this list sucks! J/K It was a pretty good compilation. As mentioned by many above, while I may not agree on the order of the riffs I do agree most of them should be in the top 20. But I also agree with some of the members here in not mentioning any Metallica. Then again, maybe the video creator was afraid of being sued.

3dfx Commercial

VirtualMirage says...

I remember one of my first investments in building a PC that was to be used solely by me and funded completely out of my pocket was a 3dfx Voodoo 5 5500 AGP video card. That thing was massive! I guess the equivalent to it today would be the GeForce 7950GT. It had 2 video chips with 32MB of buffer each and was one of the first cards to tout FSAA plus some T-Buffer effects that, sadly, didn't get taken advantage of. Before this beast I was running on a Voodoo3 2000 PCI card in a hand-me-down Comcrap PC. I picked that card up just so I could play Half Life and Unreal Tournament. Oh, those were the days.

Virtual Barber Shop

VirtualMirage says...

I experienced something almost identical to this 10 years ago at MGM Studios in Florida. They had low lit booths with headphones you sat in and would give a freaky surround sound experience out of just two speakers. The one I was in was a barber scene and it too made the hairs on my neck stand on end when the razor and scissors were used. I think that was hosted by Sony at the time. This one is pretty good too. Upvote!

Finally: proof that there's an Alien invasion base on Moon!

VirtualMirage says...

Actually the location you pointed out Ajkido, it has a few examples. But if you look closely that blur spot follows a vertical line on both sides all the way down. It's part of the film strip where they line them up side by side, with the part you pointed out being tapered. Most of the film probably overlapped photos, with some parts of the film possibly not exposing properly or optics issues, or even just sucky trimming and merging of all the photo strips. You have to remember since the moon is a sphere and all photos were of a 35mm type rectangle, it's going to have to be trimmed at some point to avoid overlapped and duplicate imaging. And if there was a gap between photos, it had to be filler with some form of filler. And photo editting as it is known today did no exist. But nonetheless, it is still very fascinating.

Brief history on the largest government sponsor of terrorism

VirtualMirage says...

I agree with Dag in that people need to realize what else was going on during that time (Cold War, etc.) to put the context in better perspective. Again, a lot of it could have been handled better, but that is 20/20 hindsight speaking.

While it is an amazing video and it gives people a brief history lesson who never knew of the events until just now, I encourage those who become easily opinionated by such short montages to read up on the history and times surrounding those events. I'm not trying to say that everything shown will be righted or justified by learning more, but it will at least give you a better idea of what was going on. Otherwise you are letting a 4 minute, 30 second video attempt to paint you a picture of 60+ years of US and world history and politics by showing the most gruesome of events, which some were not the best choices nor the brightest moments in our society (as a human race).

In short, viewed and taken the wrong way would make it no different than viewing a propaganda film. Actually, that's what this video can be classified as, propaganda. The only reason I am calling it that is because it only shows a biased, one sided summarization of multiple events from only one perspective without any further history and/or cause/effect of why those events transpired. This makes its sole purpose is to sway the public opinion of mass see one view only, the film creators view. A video of true historical education would give a complete unbiased (as much as can be done) view of the events, the history surrounding it, and both sides perspectives with no judgment made by the film creator themselves. Also careful wording would need to be used so as to not sway a viewers opinion by using heavily weighted (emotional) words against one side or for another in its favor. But of course doing it that way would probably make for a longer, uninteresting video to the majority with not as much of an impact of the creators intent.

Trigger a Green Traffic Light

My father used to get his motorcycle's frame closer to the wiring by loading engine (similar to power braking), thus causing the bike lower its front end (and frame) closer to the ground and wiring. It seemed to work just as well.

Stray Cat Strut

VirtualMirage says...

Actually, what you should really be saying is, "Anyone else able to hear Stray Cats -Stray Cat Strut main riff in Green Day's Hitchin a Ride?" since this song did come out long before Green Day.

Star Wars Hooker? Yeah, that's gonna be one lucky nerd.

Cabbage Defense Weapon - The Mossberg 590

VirtualMirage says...

Me thinks it is not Bruce Campbell but Duke Nukem instead. Even the music after the Groovy statement sounds like it came out of a Duke Nukem game. But I could be wrong. Of course, Duke Nukem's demeanor probably was ripped right off of Bruce Campbell and his Evil Dead roles.
