Romney silent on climate change

Murgy says...

>> ^bobknight33:

There is climate change then then there is Al Gore and the leftist man made climate change.

Man made climate change theory is pure BS. Only fools believe this.

To be honest, I don't care if a coalition between the Marx Brothers, Oscar The Grouch, and the entire hamlet of Troskač. A significant alteration in the biosphere is still all it would take to reduce modern civilization to a state of absolute ruin.

Rarely do I see emergency workers begin to investigate the cause of a fire as the building burns down around them.

Boy Tasered For Not Washing Cop's Car Sues -- TYT

Murgy says...

I'm not sure you understand what it is like to be shot with a taser, my friend.
To give you a very brief picture, I can pretty well guarantee that this child wouldn't have noticed the puncture wounds from the electrode prongs until long after the incident itself.
In a nutshell, an electroshock weapon seeks to exploit the way the nervous system works to make the brain think electrical impulses are being send from every muscle in the affected are to contract, even if a pair of said muscles are in direct opposition to each other. Obviously muscles pulling against each other is quite a painful thing. Hell, if an adrenaline release has occurred, these conflicting muscles can literally tear themselves off of the bone with a long enough shock.

At the time, though, much of the real pain comes from the simple interaction of sensory nerves and electricity. For the sake of simplicity, we'll call prong one A, prong two B, and motor nerve pathways C.
For the brief moment that said energy moves from point A to point C, all affected sensory nerves send the maximum amount of electrochemical signals as possible in response to what the nerves think is a harm causing force far greater than an electric shock actually is. This manifests itself as the greatest possible amount of pain from an extremely localized area, the amount of possible pain being proportional to the concentration of sensory nerves in the affected area. This then repeats itself during the transition from point C to point B.

They aren't exactly knocking on doors or digging through leaked memos here. This story doesn't really address any of the real issues we're facing. It doesn't address unemployment, or our economic crisis. It doesn't address the global clusterfuck we're in the midst of. It isn't telling us anything we need to know about our elected officials, or how we're being governed (really, unless you consider some local cop to be governance). In the end it's just another piece about some asshole cop because that's what gets eyeballs from lefties. Same shit, different patriotic backdrop.

Only a moron would be swayed by this crack addict. Moving forward, I expect the folk that helped the GOP win by huge margins in 2009 and 2010 to push Romney into a landslide victory.

Truly, only the least intelligent of morons would be swayed by the argument presented in this video.
But what does that say about those who thought this was a serious attempt at political discourse?

Water truck being hit by a train

Murgy says...

>> ^Ickster:

I literally witnessed a miracle because despite the fact that the train destroyed the truck, the men inside were okay and they are alive, . . .
Actually, you witnessed a driver not paying attention, and being saved by 50 odd years of safety legislation and good engineering.

Heh. I was going to say, seeing as how the actual cabin the drivers were housed in was a good five or so meters from the point of impact, this hardly seems like the appropriate time to bust out the prayer beads.

Unless, of course, one felt like worshiping the mechanical engineers. The cathedrals could operate on the Rube Goldberg Principal.

Murgy says...

Seeing as how the discussion is about the widespread use and ownership of guns, your comparison is illogical. Would it not stand to reason that incidences in which planes were purposefully flown into buildings would increase if piloting licenses were no longer mandatory? Seeing as how accidental death by firearms as been represented in the relevant statistics, I suppose one wouldn't even be required to include the prerequisite of purposeful, either.

>> ^jimnms:
You can't pick out a small portion of a larger statistic to base your argument on, you need to take into account the whole picture. That's like saying 2001 was a slow year for terrorism, if you don't count the World Trade Center attacks.

Terrorists acquire nuclear container to smuggle uranium (Military Talk Post)

By god, are you telling me that those godless Soviets now possess the technology to contain the centers of our very atoms themselves?!
Truly, both America, their several hundreds of nuclear warheads, and their several thousands of ICBM delivery platforms are doomed.

Romney Asked 14 Times if he'd De-fund FEMA

Murgy says...

Your claims here are vastly skewed. As an example I'll point out that prostitutes do, in fact, view alcoholism awareness public service announcements, but than again, so does everyone else.
Hell, better yet, I'll go ahead and inform you that fruit flies are among the most commonly used model animal in modern science. That funding could literally be going to just about any biology related field of research in existence.

I'm very much willing to read and consider your viewpoints, but please, try and present the whole facts next time.

Here's some other ways your tax dollars are being spent:
$2.6 Million Spent To Train Chinese Prostitutes To Drink Responsibly
$1,529,220 for an Appalachian Fruit Lab.
$742,764 for olive fruit fly research. ($211,509 of this amount was to be spent in Paris, France)
$172,782 for the National Wild Turkey Federation in Edgefield, S.C.
$1,128,000 for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Alaska Eagle River for an at-risk youth mentoring program.
$50,000,000 for REAL ID grants. Got to be sure to track and trace those unruly American citizens!
$123,050 for a Mother's Day Shrine in Grafton, West Virginia (population 5,489, with a land area of 3.8 square miles)

You could kill with any of those items.

Not at 600+ rounds per minute, 200 meters away, you can't. Hell, and that's just the Uzi.

>> ^bmacs27:

Why does this guy need to justify his collection? Would you guys react differently if they were swords?

Again, 200 meters, 600+ rounds per minute.

Mates, go check out the gun deaths per capita in regions like the UK, Canada, or Australia. As convincing as many peoples arguments are against firearm regulation, and truly there have been some logical and justified points raised here, the statistics simply don't support it. Often by measures of times ten to twenty five reductions in homicide alone.

Forgive me for not having cited specific sources here, the only reputable statistics I seem able to find possess vast differences in time between countries being compared. I wouldn't want to seem as though I'm cherry picking facts, so I encourage you to research this for yourself.

Due to the lack of context in the clip, I'm going to abstain from adding a political opinion.
I will, however, add that the crowds laughter in this instance was so slow to pick up that there had to be an indicator sign involved.

Personally, I'd contribute his wife's survival to doctors and scientists, though I suppose that wouldn't have made a very good story. But if the big concrete icon really is what floats your boat, worship away!
