Civil forfeiture. Seriously?

KimzSendai says...

I don't actually care about the motels reputation for prostitution and drug dealing (according to Trip Advisor), I don't actually care if 0.625, or 62.5 (most likely, these guys sound probably forgot that you need to multiply by 100 to get a percentage), 625, or 6250 people have been arrested in the last 20 years. Hell, I don't actually care if EVERY SINGLE ONE OF HIS GUESTS has been arrested.

The point is that this is sloppy policing. If they want to get the guy on negligence, get him on that, if they want to try for aiding and abetting, try for that, but in the absence of actually conviction him of something (or successfully suing him in civil court) this is wrong.

I actually kind of think that the point of the law was the governments equivalent of suing an individual for negligence, but really, it still needs to go through the court because otherwise it's ripe for abuse.

I'm unconvinced that this guy is an angel, but the law still makes me angry, and I support what IJ is trying to do.

Not to belabour the obvious, but in Hebrew

Low = No.

Cane = Yes.

So this is the boring Israeli bank equivalent of saying... everyone else may turn you down for a loan, but we'll give you one, and look at our low interest rates!

Oh, and at 0:36, the word (spelled out on the screen) is "Cheshbon", which means "account" (ch in this case being a guttural h... like at the beginning of Channukah, or Challah)

15 min of Raw Footage from Before and During Flotilla Attack

KimzSendai says...

Pprt: Thank you for sharing this footage.

Notice how the dopey Westerner considered everyone there "soldiers".. sigh.

I think, and I could be wrong on this, that the Westerner is talking about the two Israeli commandos that were incapacitated in the first attempt to board the vessel. I only think this because we see the blood on the hatchway early on in the video.

Fox & Friends accusing Google of snubbing Christianity

KimzSendai says...

Google did Easter, once, back in 2000. But if you scroll through the list of 'holidays' doodled by Google, you'll notice that, for the most part, (not universally, but the vast majority)the holiday honored is widely considered secular for the country that the doodle displays in.
