From a scientific standpoint, homosexuality would not be considered unnatural. Homosexual and bisexual behavior have been recorded in a number of species. It also fits with natural genetic mutation rates and environmental pressure changes. Enviromental pressures, for those that don't know, can cause physiological changes that are as immutable as genetic expressions.

If gay marriage is openly allowed (specifically in the US since a number of other countries have gay marriage), it won't mean people will become gay. It will simply allow gay people to have contractual relationships just like heterosexuals. It has no impact on family or family structure. It has no impact on the meaning of marriage.

Seriously QM? Your still going to go to bat for Bill? I remember when conservatives stood up for things like honesty and integrity. Todays conservatives like to scream and shout about the 10 Commandments being taken down, yet they support people who regularly break those Commandments.

Just want to add, Southerners (American Southerners, that is) have often been made fun of for their dialect. Some speak "Dixie" and some speak "Yank" and the two sides do poke fun at each other (and sometimes not so fun).

I hear conservatives say they only want to talk facts and the liberals only call names. Then the Conservative turns around and calls the liberal names (elitist, anyone). As a moderate, I'd be amused if the two groups weren't trying to tear the country apart.

Hmmm... I understand that people should know what they are getting into. It is also true that the recruiters are not always told the truth about the situation. I talked to my recruiter after basic and tech school and we discussed some of the things the military wasn't honest about.

However, this video is misleading. The contract extension is not something the military "springs" on recruits. When I signed up (Feb '91) the contract plainly stated that I was agreeing to four years active duty and four years inactive duty. The inactive duty obligation means the military can call you back to duty for four years after you have been discharged OR keep you on active duty. It's not a secret. It's plain as day on the front page of the contract. If you don't read your contract, you are a moron. Signing your life away without reading what your signing is complete stupidity.

A better argument would be that the government has slashed VA funding for years. The budget to take care of disabled soldiers has significantly decreased (budget slashed for five years then--I believe--a small increase this last year. Of course, the government money allocated to the VA didn't actually get paid for nearly a year). That, I find disgusting more than anything.

1. I do think the officer had the right to question the employee about the money. 2. I think he severely overreacted and deserves some form of reprimand. I'm assuming the story we aren't getting is the follow-up proceedings against the officer. The union will protect him, but the Chief sounded pretty pissed and will likely follow procedures to punish the officer.

It's sad to see this kind of thing happen, but it's not really a surprise. I don't necessarily think these are bad men(I can't vouch for them). I think these are young men who have been under a lot of stress and haven't had a real break. They have spent a long time in a country living as targets, are very likely to have killed people and have seen their friends killed. Many soldiers are questioning their roll there and have questioned the orders of their superiors. People are going to have skewed views and out and out snap under those conditions.
