Temper tantrum

AeroMechanical says...

No (personal) offensive intended to parrot owners, and yes they're pretty, but I just don't understand why you would want to bring a loud, ill-tempered vicious little territorial monster like that into your home.

My theory is that they are just a little bit too intelligent and independent to get on with the whole "being a pet" thing.

Accident At Blake's Truck

Why The End Of Smoking Is Complicated

AeroMechanical says...

Odd how the the timing coincides with the release of IQOS in the USA. That is a totally bizarre and inexplicable machine without the knowledge that it was engineered by lawyers: "We need to get into that non-combustable category somehow, but it also has to be a tobacco product."

Tailgater Climbs The Ladder Of Success

AeroMechanical says...

I see a lot of fail to go around in this video. Naturally, the biggest failure is on the part of the driver who failed to secure their cargo. that is grievous and inexcusable negligence (assuming it wasn't the result of freak equipment failure like a strap breaking).

I don't like all the cars swerving out of their lane to avoid the ladder. Can't really say for certain from the video how aware they were of surrounding traffic and distances involved, but that is usually the wrong response. Better to come to a complete stop in your lane if you have to. I'm pretty sure the tailgater wasn't aware of that pickup coming up on his left.

And of course the guy not leaving enough space when he had plenty of alternatives available. That guy and his like-minded buddies are the primary reason 40% of my commutes over the last two weeks have been an hour and a half instead of the 20 minutes they should be.

I think it must be the heat or something, but way too many people have been driving foolishly or like they're defending their position lately.

At least two second intervals. Let other drivers merge. Use the accelerator on the on ramp--you should be going the speed limit by the time you have to merge with traffic. We'd all get home quicker that way.

Ah, that's better. Thank you Videosift for the therapy session.

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

AeroMechanical says...

No, I spent a couple hours searching once, but I've never been able to find it. I can only narrow down the air date by where I lived when it was shown. It was B-roll stuff and it was 2 or 3 years after it was filmed that it aired (or at least that's the way it seems in my memory, but it was definitely long enough that I'd moved house twice in between).

Where can we see it? Is there a video of it online?

A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

AeroMechanical says...

I was on Mr Rogers once in the mid 80's when I was about five years old. You can see me for about ten frames on Picture-Picture going down a slide at Frick (or maybe Schenley) park. So you know, I got that going for me.

Rat infestation eradicated by mink and dogs

AeroMechanical says...

Yeah, this doesn't seem very practical. The mink in particular I can't see killing enough to make a difference the way they're deploying it. The dogs might, though, if they live on the farm and kill rats all day.

Knife Throwing Skills

AeroMechanical says...

Anyone know what the wooden thingummy in the background that looks sort of like a loom is?

ed: Wait... figured it out. It's an airplane. Dude has an interesting basement/garage whatever.

ed2: Er... maybe.

The motion where the sand meets the ground doesn't look right. Doesn't seem like the sort of thing someone would intentionally fake, maybe it's just the video compression, but anyways, it doesn't look right.

Star Trek: Picard – Official Teaser Trailer

AeroMechanical says...

I'm guessing this is going to be short-format "webisode" type thing, with Picard delivering monologues as if to an interviewer. That would probably be very good for what it is, but not something I'd get particularly enthusiastic about.

You Can Make It - Pastor Jim Bakker

AeroMechanical says...

As hilarious as this guy's sermons are, I kind of feel like I shouldn't be encouraging him by increasing his Youtuber points.
