I'm really dissapointed that Californians have decided that they'd rather impose thier personal religious belifs on others than let their neighbors be happy.

I'd hoped that they'd shoot it down because they tend to set the trends that come up here. Oh well, despite campaigning by outside religious groups, we beat them to assisted suicide...maybe we'll support our GLBT community on equal rights issues on our own.

I thought the use of the girls was apropriate. They were there to remind everyone that the choices we make today not only determine what we put ourselves through, they also determine the issues the younger generation will have to deal with in the not too distant future.

Things like VD, unplanned pregnancy, and rape don't wait around for everyone to turn 18 first. They have a right to ask us to look out for them when it comes to these things.

I wish that he'd mentioned that the interacial comparison is about being able to marry the person you want to be with, not whether or not you can or would even want to change the minority group you are classified as.

I think the guy on the cell phone is handicapped. He responded to the child like another child would. The man then hit the guy, just like another child would. If I were there and threw the "father" through the window, then I would be in the wrong as well. The "father" obviously didn't care about wether or not the kid was hurt. The kid appeared fine. The man on the ground did not appear fine. The "father's" reaction was not ok.
p.s. I upvoted because I believe that honest dipictions of violence need to be seen. Anyone who views this and is disturbed by it is probably better at handling conflict than anyone who just says 'right on'. We need this kind of discourse about violence.

Huh. You must be talking about a different Dawkins than the one I've read and listened to on the radio. He's basically a dick to Christians, though Hitchens and Harris are much worse (and then complain about Christians complaining about their tone, which is like the perfect mobius-strip of bitching). IMO, Dan Dennet is the best of the current atheist intellectuals. He does a fairly good job being reasonable, though he does say some disrespectful things from time to time.
