I thought it was just regional blocking that was causing the "video no longer available" banner to appear on videos that weren't dead. That may still be the case for some, but I think I found another possible culprit.


I just looked at a video on the Sift that appeared dead, but was well alive on YouTube. When I refreshed the page, the video miraculously played just fine. Something funky is going down with Y/T's servers, I suspect.

The moral of this post? So we don't rush to judgment any longer, I ask that we refresh the page and check to see if the video is still live on YouTube (or wherever it's hosted) first before invoking it as *dead. That way perfectly good videos aren't sent to the deadpool any more. Fair enough?
