Several shot at Canadian college

Wow this is so scary, me and a couple of friends of mine were just relaxing at the main college entrance the other day shooting the shit.
This is the 3rd Shooting at a campus that occured in Montreal, the first was in 1989 at Ecole Polytechnique, and 2nd was in 1992, when Valery Fabrikant, a Mechanical Engineering professor, shot five colleagues on the ninth floor of the Hall Building.
Am in shock. I live 5 minutes away from Dawson.

darksunI remember watching a documentary about a school shooting. It was tragic. It makes you wonder, why on earth do people shoot students? I would find it just a little bit more acceptable if they walked into a street or an office and started shooting, but seeing as it is a school, its rather daunting.
KrupoWow, what a freak - good thing the police responded quickly - one person died though.
I was confused by the headline - more accurate (for a Canadian) would be, "shot at Montreal CEGEP".
<shrug>
I find this disconcerting, from the BBC page:
"Are you enrolled at Dawson College in Montreal or do you know any of the students who study there? Were you in school when the incident happened?"
They solicit info/pics from you if you have them.
Farhad2000Well it's 9:56 PM here, the entire area around Dawson college has been shut down by the police since the incident. They are still posted out there. So far they reported 20 people at various hospitals around Montreal, one person so far has died. At first it was thought 4 people were involved but thats narrowed down to one suspect who was shot, by police near Dawson. Seems the incident was contained very quickly as police arrived 4 minutes into the shooting. The streets are really empty and sirens are still going off.
This is really messed up especially since this is the start of the Fall semester and this is the event that starts. The previous weeks were marked with frosh and oreintation events for students arriving at Concordia, Ecole Poly, McGill, Dawson, UQAM... all schools close together at the heart of montreal.
I don't understand how the school administration and the teaching staff did not diagnose this earlier, while the suspect was in class and did not yet act out.
In Columbine it was different, it was two people who pschologically pushed themselves to this event, when its one person, that means that this individual had to have been really off the bleeding edge.
