Michigan Folk! Did you Vote Today??

Our primaries are apparently today... I totally forgot what with school and all... and the suspicious lack of advertisement about it... but anyway, there are about 2 hrs left until the polls close, so I'm off! and I hope you are too!

Parents and I thought that voting for "Uncommitted" in the Democratic primary would be pointless, and our main mission was to stop Romney, so we added a couple of votes to Ron Paul's totals today.

I had a similar strategy... although, I've got some post-polling doubts though: In doing this, are we harming the overall chances that Obama or Edwards will be elected at the DNC? Would it actually have been better to send more 'uncommitted' delegates to the convention?

Also, riddle me this... why would Obama, Edwards, et al, choose to stay off the ballot? I don't understand... I heard something about MI being stripped of its delegates at the DNC, so therefore we don't matter, or something like that.... Will someone please explain this to me without saying "Geez Raven, get with it"? I mean, usually I am pretty well informed about these things, but I have been under a rock for the last few weeks what with the start of classes and some changes in my job... I've barely had time to keep up with all the election news and I think I missed something in the last couple of weeks.

I tried to ask this stuff at the polling place, but the workers wouldn't answer it, said they weren't allowed to talk politics, and the douchey yuppies I was in line with just all kind of looked at me and smiled patronizingly.

It also sucked that there were two separate stacks of ballots, right out in front so everyone saw that I got a Republican one, and continued to smile patronizingly at me with that smug Ann Arborite smile we are all so good at... I was sooooo fucking tempted to be all like, "Yeeehawwww! Four More Years of WAR!!!! Eat that you Abortion loving Liberal Nut Jobs!!!"

ps. love the new avatar... I may take to calling you Smeagol!

Michigan moved up its primary to January 15, but the DNC wanted to spread the amount of primaries ridiculously early in the year, so Michigan lost all its delegates. W00t. Obama and Edwards fell in with the party and removed themselves from the ballot, but Hillary stayed for an easy win. If Michigan gets its delegates back, assuming that she wins the primary, they go to her. But if "Uncommitted" gets enough votes, we'll be sending some independent delegates to the convention, which should be interesting.

Everyone in my precinct seems to be supporting the Republicans, so we didn't get any stares at all. But now we'll be getting campaign mail from McRomnabee.

P.S. Thanks for the praise.

Bush was once a drunkard, but then he found The Gospel of Supply-Side Jesus

Blessed are the rich, for theirs is the whole earth.
Blessed are the ruthless, for they shall be competitive in the free market.
Blessed are those who win, for they shall be rewarded.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after oil, for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the warmakers, for they shall get kickbacks from no-bid contracts.
Blessed are the pure of religion, for they shall see tax dollars.
Blessed are those who destroy men for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the oil of iraq.
Blessed are ye when men shall love you, and say all manner of good things about you falsely. Rejoice, for great is your propaganda campaign.

that's Bush's brand of christianity
