Help Wanted

Dear Sifters - it's come to the attention of @lucky760 and myself that we need some help. There is work to be done in our great community that gets back-burnered, support questions that go unanswered and great ideas that go unplumbed. For these reasons and more - we're looking to add one or two community managers to our official staff roster here at VideoSift. This would be a great after-hours job for someone who cares deeply about VideoSift and well ... let's be honest, is here anyway. Here are the qualities we're looking for in community managers:

  • A deep understanding of how VideoSift works on a community level and a passion for its continued success

  • You don't need to be super-technical, but you should know your way around a web browser and have ideas about how interactions through a website should work

  • A willingness to jump into disputes or community issues and hear all viewpoints fairly without bias - setting aside prejudices or grudges

  • A willingness to spend ~ 10 hours per week on VideoSift doing your community management thing.

What do you get out of it?

  • Unbridled, limitless power! - um no - not really, but you will have *full* admin rights. This means you will be behind the curtain at VideoSift, able to use your admin powers to fix up problems and help people out. There is a lot of satisfaction that goes with that I can tell you personally. We'll modify the UI to indicate who the managers are, to make it easy for people to know who can help them in a thread.

  • You get to be part of the VideoSift staff team - that means you'll be in on the discussions that Lucky and I have about the future of VideoSfit - changes and updates we want to make etc.

  • A little bit of money - seriously, I mean a little bit - don't quit your day job. However, you would be in on the ground floor - when we conquer the world, you're on the team, and there's nowhere to go but up from here.

  • You get to say that you are a community manager on VideoSift - one of the best communities in the world. Update your LinkedIn profile, send out those resumes, you're doing something cool and the world will notice. Both Lucky and I would agree that VideoSift has done great things for our day job careers.

If you're interested, please PM me. Tell me why you'd like the job and let me know the direction you'd like to see VideoSift heading. You can provide an old school resume if you want, but don't feel it's required. You can include links to ideas you think are great within VideoSift or on the wider Net if you want. Lucky and I will get together and review candidates and then set up some time to talk with you if you're successful. If you'd like to nominate/encourage someone to apply - drop their name in the comments.
