Help ME
I know that this is videosift, and not some PC hardware forum, but it is the only real forum i am a member of. So here is my problem, my usb - mini usb cord, which i left plugged into the front of my new PC actually shocked me! not a bad shock, but equivalent or slightly more shocking then a 9v battery to the tongue, but this was my arm!
Being the fool i am, i tested again, wondering if the pins inside are fudged, but upon touching only the outermost shell of the mini usb cord to my arm, the same thing occurred.
So to all the video sift hardware wizes, is this normal, or is something seriously wrong with my new PC? I know that usb carries something like 5v, but on the outermost shell????

The insulating plastic cover on a USB cable is there to ... insulate you from something like this. It might be time to get a new cable.
Farhad2000This is not normal and screams made in China quality. Some wire must be touching the outer casing of the mini USB cord.
ObsidianfireCheck your bios or an OS utility that gives you voltages. If they are more then.. I'd say 2 increments away from their designated area, like your 12v being 15v or 9v or something, then you need to check your PSU (Power Supply).
Check your motherboard connections for external USB to the front of your computer. Make sure the connectors are inserted properly and in the right location.
Try a different USB cord, check the existing one for naked wires.
This is all I could find for USB connections on your mobo manual.

Yeah but pretty much everything is made in China and certainly all computer components.
