(More Than) A Couple of Bugs (Feature Requests)

The new "hide videos you have viewed" option does not stick as a preference. It works if you select it and click the "go" button, but it reverts to "hide none" option when you click on the Unsifted tab.

The submitter's initial vote is not being counted as a unique view, resulting in videos with a votes/views ratio > 1.0.

[edit] Searching for duplicates has become a serious chore. As I noted in this comment, it is absurd that a search for "orca" does not find a video with the word "Orcas" in the title.

[edit2] does not work in talk posts.

[edit3] Siftbot has learned how to lie.

I am guessing the search thing is a technical problem because it is so retarded I can't believe Lucky doesn't know about it already. I use google.

It should be number one priority to fix though...

Not a bug. It wasn't designed to do that. I have now, however, made the selection persistent.

Not a bug. This gives newly submitted videos a fairly good chance of at least getting one or two views before slipping into obscurity.

The prior complaint was that searching for a word like "orca" found words like "motorcades" which is why the search became very specific. I loosened it up a bit so it will be slightly more intelligent. However, this will make searches much more DB-intensive, so if it becomes too burdensome, it'll be reset.

Added "strike" to available HTML tags for ST posts.

He didn't lie. The post was sent to Sift Talk, but it was a discarded post so it wasn't showing up in the listing.

My problem may be related to these recent changes:

Now, on the "Unsifted Videos" page if I try to return the filter to "Hide None" from "Hide Videos I Have Viewed" it refuses to remove the filter no matter how many times I select "Hide None" and click go.

If you can understand what I mean from that mess.

Cool. Didn't seem quite as useful the other way.

Ah - that makes sense.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Doing a full on regexp search would be too much load. Not sure what the specific change was, but maybe even just adding common endings (-ed, -ing, -s, -es) to search terms would do it? Or would allowing users to specify logical operators work better? I don't know, db search is definitely not my strong suit.

Nice - thanks. Though I guess that is of limited use.

Oh, ok. tbh, I was half joking. I was a confused because it seemed to work for Pippy.

Awesomeness all round, Lucky. Thanks!
