That's expected behavior, at least where I live.(Edmonton, Alberta) If you are outside in winter without a jacket for more then a half an hour you're looking at a trip to the hospital.That's if your lucky.

You see a little kid freezing without a jacket and you let him freeze, that's criminal. If you live in a place where that's the norm, that's fucked up.

I see nothing exceptional here, only people doing what any person should.

This video isn't about how great Norwegians are (even if they are great), it's basically saying "You wouldn't stand by and watch a child freeze in front of you but what about children in Syrian refugee camps, how about stepping up to the plate for them"

I can also make unfounded statements: This would have failed in Norway, just the same as it would have failed in the US, if the kid was a minority and/or wearing an exotic outfit.

Hence why it starts with a white child and leads into helping people in Syria. If they had shown us children in Syria, I don't believe this video would exist because no one in Norway would be tricked into giving a shit.

Besides, Norwegians don't believe in democracy, every American citizen knows and practices this belief -- because Fox says so, telepathically. In all of our minds. All of hivemind America.

Sadly, I don't think it would have gone as well in America.

So it sounds as if we would agree, we think it would have failed in both places if the child were obviously Muslim.
Having Fry's disease, the telepathic signal becomes scrambled in my head...it confuses the non-damaged hive minds near me (and me).
EDIT: and my statement wasn't unfounded, I verified with myself that it's what I thought. That's a verified statement about an unfounded opinion! ;-}

In America you'd be at risk of being perceived as or accused of being a pedophile.

I'd offer my jacket, but I'd throw it to him from a distance, and I definitely would not sit next to him.

L0ckysays...

Same in the UK.

Though it's not really adding to the conversation much; it's more about the media's obsession with Pedogeddon.

Would be exactly the same in Finland too, i guess it's the annual cold and common sense. We wont let kids freeze, no matter what is the social status, child health is big priority here. Taking care of other peoples kids when needed is still very close to the culture.

The next thing that would've happened when heard he is 65km from home is to call the cops. They call the parents and provide temporary shelter. But then would've started the social worker round and that is not pleasant.. It's the one part of our 'nanny state' that often oversteps it's boundaries and that is really unfortunate.
