James E. O'Keefe III (born June 28, 1984) is a politically conservative American activist who garnered media attention in September 2009 for creating the ACORN undercover videos, which purported to expose wrongdoing by the community group ACORN. Publicity associated with the tapes contributed to the disbanding of ACORN. However, subsequent investigations found no evidence of criminal acts by ACORN, and determined that O'Keefe's videos had been misleadingly edited to portray ACORN in a negative light.
