Lucky Soul - My Lips Are Unhappy...

Lucky Soul are a British six-piece 60s-revivalist indie pop band based in Greenwich in South East London. Formed towards the end of 2004, the band consists of Ali Howard on vocals, Andrew Laidlaw and Ivor Sims on guitars, Toby Fogell on bass, Maclolm Young on keyboards and Nathaniel L. Perkins on drums. Currently signed to their own label Ruffa Lane, they are illustrative of a growing, internet-enabled trend - notably practised by bands such as Enter Shikari and Koopa - to self-release.

Debut single 'My Brittle Heart / Give Me Love', released in March 2006, put the band on the map when it was made 'single of week' by the Guardian newspaper and described as featuring "melodies as colossal, memorable and irresistible as a stampede of elephants bearing down on your tent". In June of that year they released another single, "Lips are Unhappy", followed by an EP entitled Ain't Never Been Cool, the following January.

The band have performed numerous live dates, including headlining a New Years Eve party at The Hope & Anchor in Islington, London, two years in a row.

The single "Add Your Light to Mine, Baby", was released on 26 March 2007 as a CD and limited edition, hand-numbered vinyl. This preceded the release of their George Shilling-produced debut LP 'The Great Unwanted' on 9 April 2007. All the releases have performed well in the UK, with Ain't Never Been Cool reaching the indie top ten, and the band have recently gained popularity in US markets.
