The Australian Bureau of Statistics has revealed more than 70,000 citizens declared their religion as Jedi Knight or Star Wars in the 2001 national census, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. (ABC)

Christianity continues to be Australia's largest religion with more than 12.8 million people, 68% of the population, declaring themselves followers.

Non-Christian religions Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism and New Age beliefs represented 5.6% of Australians, while 15.4% said they had no religion and 9.8% declined to answer
