I'm not sure how to classify this. Is this just the only two people the reporter managed to find who live like this? Is this a social phenomena of a deeply conformist culture unable to handle these human beings? Is this a psychiatric phenomena (to be an amateur psychologist---the first guy seems like he might on the autistic spectrum a touch; the lady seems like she has a bit of post traumatic stress disorder and attachment disorder from a bad family situation)
But they way they are surviving alone but not happy seems really sad.
The non-exactly-the-same American analogue exists, I'm sure.
But for me, this was a unique take on the total sense of aloneness of being while surrounded, literally, by others. Which I think I remember is existentialist.
