You won't find what I wrote on google because *gasp* I made it all up.

I seem to remember it being the centrifugal force of the wheels giving my bike the gyroscopic effect, but that was many, many years ago and that sounds pretty damn good, and I have yet to master the google magic, so thank you.

Dang, that google business isn't overrated. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_and_motorcycle_dynamics

First off, sweet name Enzoblue. Second, I don't think most police officers are like this. I am a Deputy Juvenile Officer, so I work with a lot of kids, and I find that if you respect them, they'll respect you. If I were that kid I would have turned the video into the department. If there is a followup to the story I would like to know. Thanks!

It sounded like you were saying that you couldn't have the fourth amendment and the second amendment existing in harmony at the same time. That's what I don't get.

In reply to this comment by schmawy:
The video was about Wiretapping, which is a fourth ammendment issue. Redsky brought up guns, which is a second amendment issue. If he wished discuss the two together then you have to combine the right to own weapons and the right to privacy, that's why I came up with the government making warantless searches your home for guns. Admittedly, a flimsy reach, but most of my thinking is like that

In reply to this comment by deedub81:
I don't get it. Why would the government search everyone's homes?

In reply to this comment by schmawy:
Redsky-

I think there are other threads that cover the second amendment issue of the right to keep and bear arms, and I'll keep out of those because a friend of mine labeled me a "black powder liberal" on that issue.

This is a fourth amendment issue which of course states "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures..."

If you'd wish to mix the two, applying FISA and Wiretapping to gun control, you'd get something like the following scenario: The government having the right to enter EVERYONES home, without your knowledge and without court permission, to search for firearms. Would this be acceptable to you?

Qruel gave me the impression that he felt other religions don't need to be accepting of Mormons.

He also stated indirectly that Mormon doctrine was "nonsense."

I don't mind when people say that Mormons have different beliefs than most other Christian faiths. It's true. They do. I find it offensive when people make anyone's personal convictions and beliefs out to be "ridiculous" or "nonsense". If one believes that ALL religion is nonsense, that's a different story.

(..and Romney did make specific references to what he believes and how it relates to the office of President of the United States.)

In reply to this comment by Farhad2000:
Deedub81, I believe you are misinformed.

Mormons are not Christians, there is a marked difference between Mormonism and mainstream Christianity. Here's BeliefNet with a helpful charts of differences. This one is from Religion Facts.

Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet and that Christianity fell into apostasy after the passing of Jesus Christ. The Bible to them is far below the The Pearl of Great Price, The Doctrine and Covenants, and The Book of Mormon.

"Whether Mormons should be considered "Christians" is a controversial and rather complicated issue. Many Catholics and Protestants do not consider Mormons to be Christians because they believe the differences in doctrines are more dramatic and more fundamental than those between Christian denominations."

Its not "Religion bashing intolerance", it's just the facts, Christians don't accept the Mormon faith as being part of Christianity.

This is why Romney is capitalizing on religious faith in general and not specifically talking about his own faith. I can see what he's trying to do, but unlike JFK he doesn't simply state that we should separate my faith from my time in office (JFK was the first Roman Catholic president), he is banking on religious faith in general to win votes.

Are you seriously comparing John Sinclair with Dr. King and Rosa Parks?

There's a difference between laws against drugs, or laws against...say...praying. It there were a law, that forced me to do something (or not do something) that went against my principles, that's a different story. John Sinclair just wanted to get high. That's a selfish reason for breaking the law. Don't act like he was doing something noble.

In reply to this comment by Fedquip:
sometimes you have to break the law and demand change.
