Iv'e noticed over the last few weeks, a new trend of placing old videos back on the front page in high doses.
I wouldn't care at all if they had a temporary stay. But it seems that every time I open the page I see the same videos on the front page for days at a time, videos that were originaly posted years ago. It's in my opinion making the site unappealing to viewers. I think the idea is to re-hash better videos on peticularly slow uploading times. The logic being it will make the site more appealing, but i don't think it works that way. It makes the site look very....what's the word.....twee....no...fucking boring. you either are going to be looking at old videos, or videos like zeropunctuation, some lecture by degrasse, or zinn, dawkins, the lists of video authors that are constantly replayed over and over again seen infinite. I'm not arguing that all of those guys aren't very compelling or fun to watch. But I only care to watch them once and a while. This fanboy crap is taking over what used to be a site where people had a wide array of niches to look at on the front page. Now the choices seems to be 20 TDS clips or Z.P. The reason I liked this site was because I gave me new directions, new information, different perspectives, news that I could trust, a forum to discuss issues that matter in the world. Now it's all re-hased, not original, nothing new, the same crap, with the news and information showing up days after it broke in any other medium. So what's the appeal? For me it's become just a bad habit.

So here's my thought. promoted videos, or videos deemed to be quality that are beyond their que'd phase should only have a slot on the front page for a day. No exceptions. And people who have the power to promote or deem one a quality video, it should be done with a consideration to add diversity to the front page, not re-hash videos that already had 70 votes, or videos by the same old people degrasse, dawkins, etc. We should be trying to infuse new blood into this dying fucker. And again those guys are awesome, Iv'e read two of dawkins books..fucking genes man, GENES! When I see new videos of them daily it gets old and stale. And keeping old and stale videos on the front page is exactly why it will always be old and stale.

I don't know maybe it's just me, maybe I'm looking back on the past with rose tinted glasses, when people said hello, and the sift was a simpler place. I just remember every time I opened the page a new idea would be presented, new thoughts expressed, new genius's discovered, and the video sift wasn't just copied and pasted from break.com Let me know if any one steps up, I would be surprised due to the observance that a group of powerful people seem to be hell bent on changing this site into every other crappy video site on the internet. this place was special damnit, and now it's utter and complete fanboy rubbish.
