For Liberty (Trailer) - Let It Not Be Said We Did Nothing

NordlichReiter says...

I am sick of the same old shit. Flat tax, non confusing tax code, less military spending, and the rest.

I am also sick of the Conservatives diluting the protests with their Xenophobia and stupidity.

People ask me what I support and I saw I am a constitutionalists. To which I hear oh your are a conservative right winger. To which I say, hardly. I support marijuana legalization, the bill of rights for every one, even if they aren't citizens, and Ethical Taxes. I am also a huge supporter of Science, and the Establishment Clause.

Then I say maybe you know something about me now. But you do know one thing, don't judge a book by its cover. Read the goddamn flyleaves.

So its ok to show your dislike of people who hate transvestites/gays/whatever, but I can't show my dislike of them. pot kettle black.

Correct. We are defending someone's right to be who they want to be without being attacked by ignorant others. You are trying to defend your own right to attack others. That's not how it works. Freedom of expression does not cover your right to attack others based on xenophobia. You are not allowed to shout racist abuse at people in the street and say "FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION!"

Welcome to planet earth, learn the rules.

At least they're mostly probies and can be instabanned if they get too obnoxious. I won't give you any of that free-speech-is-the-holy-grail bullshit, but users shouldn't get banned because of one stupid comment (as long as it's within certain subjectively set borders of course). Xenophobia isn't a new thing on the sift, it's just that almost all the users who feel the need to base their comments on it get tired of this place pretty quickly or are able to present their fear based views in a semi-cordial way. pprt is a good example of the latter.

edit: having read through his recent comments...maybe he needs to be banned. Time will tell.

Did you read "dranzerk's" comment on this video? What the fuck is with the xenophobia on this site recently? Racism and now anti-transvestitism? How long before people are attacking gays? This is getting rediculous..

In reply to this comment by rasch187:
He's a transvestite and there are a lot of his videos on the sift. So why everone deemed it necessary to start reacting to his appearance right now is a bit puzzling.

District 9 Trailer 2

steampunks says...

I hear the original had to do with the xenophobia happening in south africa currently. Now, 15+ years after apartheit, it's not black vs white, it's local vs foreigners .. the foreigners being , zimbabwean, nigerian, angolans etc. these are percieved as bringing more poverty to already poverty striken areas. so with the foreigners drugs and crime follow and so does fear and hatred towards them. I have a couple of zimbabweans employed and can tell you horror stories. the one guy during the violence couldn't reach his wife in a township. clever thing is they patrolled the "taxi" ranks , knowing there was no alternative means of getting into the township. it's like canned lion hunting they get delivered to you neatly wrapped in a box. (for those that don't know the taxi companies run rackets here, so they are normally involved in this sort of stuff)

Wow! Somebody took a bunch of clips and put them together. This is brilliant! I mean, this isn't propaganda or anything.

As if you would know what propaganda was, unless somebody spelled it out for you.

And even then, I guess they'd have to pepper their rhetoric with the xenophobia, jingoism, and Luddite sensibilities that pass for conservative wisdom.

Are you familiar with the psychological term "projection"?

Flying drone spies on marijuana users and Ooops 911 call!

kagenin says...

>> ^cybrbeast:
So extremely ridiculous for the Netherlands to start using these drones. Sure the sale from coffeeshops and use of marijuana is legal. But the growing is illegal and somehow the government feels like it's a good idea to go after all the growers. The only sound somewhat rational reason for this is that many growers steal electricity and some are a fire hazard. The solution, legalize or decriminalize the growing, not this stupid enforcement. Or in the very least make enforcement a non-priority.
I'm curious as to how effective the drones are and if I should be worried for my small personal grow-op. Though apparently they are only supposed to use it when they suspect large scale growing in a certain area.

The laws that allow a coffee shop to sell pot were put in place when the Dutch government was a lot more progressive. Since then, the conservatives have come into power (as they usually do everywhere, on a wave of xenophobia, intolerance, and fear - their relationship with the Muslim world has been more strained because of them), and they have stopped issuing new coffee shop licenses - there are no more new coffee shops springing up. There are ways around the legalese (for example, a marijuana seed bank needs no license to sell seeds, or to give away samples of pot to its potential seed clients), but the conservatives are doing what they can to tighten their grasp of the citizenry.

There are many stupid ignorant and bigoted so called 'Islamic' commentators in the Arab world. But this is not a view shared by the populace as a whole. Just an hour ago I was at the Sultan Center (think Wallmarts) and it was choke full of roses, sweets, lingerie and other Valentines bullshit.
These idiots just open their mouth and spew stupid shit all the time, MEMRI TV grabs one idiot and then extrapolates it to mean that he is speaking for the entire Arab and Islamic world. LOOK HOW CRAZY THOSE MUSLIM ARABS ARE!

Most people don't think about or care much for the Muslim world, Farhad.

But when people like this choose to immigrate to western countries and perpetuate their backwardness with governmental protection and support, we've got ourselves a serious problem.

John McCain wasn't a natural-born American citizen, either, QM. So what's your point?

McCain was, and is, a natural born citizen.

"A child born in the United States to foreign parents who are subject to U.S. jurisdiction automatically becomes a U.S. citizen."

Papa was a Kenyan, so how was he subject to U.S. jurisdiction?

You can cut this bullshit seven ways to Sunday, the FACT remains, Baby Barack wasn't born in the USA and has no proof he was born in Hawaii. There's a document right now the State of Hawaii and BHO refuses to release to the public.

Barack's own grandmother freely admitted he was born in Kenya, as does His Excellency Peter Ogego, Kenyan Ambassador to the United States. Something's not adding up.

No matter how much evidence you throw at wingnuts, they will still persist in this conspiracy theory because it's a convenient vessel for their submlimated racism - and yes QM - Xenophobia.

This is not a conspiracy theory, it's a bouquet of questions requiring legal answers to consider the matter settled.

I expected better from you, Dag.

Barack's dangerous color is communist red, not black, with a mainstream media working on his behalf like State-run propaganda. BHO's UnAmerican and untenable socialist philosophy will fail all by itself, as it has everywhere it's been tried. How much easier life would be not having to relive the egregious errors of the Carter Administration, this time on steroids.

Sorry Dag, I saw no evidence of "xenophobia", only disdain of Obamunism.
The birth certificate?
"Obama has NOT provided a certified copy of an original, typed, vault copy, long-form, birth certificate, signed by his mother and delivering doctor with the name of the hospital thereon, to be used to conclusively prove one of the two key elements used in determining his "natural born" citizenship status per the U.S. Constitution, i.e., where he was born.
Obama's Kenyan father was never a U.S. citizen. Thus, Obama is not a "natural born" citizen. When Obama was born he was not a "natural born citizen" since both parents of a child must be citizens at the time of birth of the child in order for the child to be a "natural born" citizen, in addition to the requirement that the child must be born in the USA."

Right that's why we're in an economic crisis...not because of the past absolutely-for-sure American born citizen of a president.

You're missing the spirit of the law...and the point altogether.
