Occupy Oakland: 2nd Police Beating of Iraq Veteran
God, I wish I could help. Occupy needs to survive and succeed, for all of our sakes. I've just moved to Wellington, NZ, and couldn't be less relevant.

Snow on Cuba Mall in central Wellington
"The storm had also brought snow in places that don't usually see it, including Wellington and Auckland where snow hasn't fallen in more than 30 years."

Earthquake (Humanitarian Talk Post)
I live in Wellington, north of Christchurch by about 300km (~190 miles), and we felt the quake here. I feel that it would be impertinent of me to try and do justice to what has happened to the city, given that I haven't directly experienced the devastation. All the footage I have seen has been horrific, except for the poignant shots of people being rescued from beneath rubble.
This is a picture of Christchurch moments after the quake hit: http://i.imgur.com/0vZbD.jpg
The ground acceleration was measured at the force of gravity. There are some truly impressive and terrifying pictures and videos of the destruction. The entire city is going to have to be rebuilt.

Glad you are OK. I'd be curious to hear more about your experience, if you've got the time.
A Ball Thrown Back 100 km/h From A Truck Moving 100 km/h
Looks like the TV show Hell's Kitchen uses this music. But only for really intense scenes, like when someone serves raw beef wellington.
Stop Motion trip down Yonge Street
Yeah. Not sure why they started at Wellington. That's in the middle of Aurora. They could at least start at the north end of Newmarket (one town north) if they wanted to avoid a lot of rural. Or they could start in Richmond Hill (one town south) to avoid the sub-suburbs.
Nice Vid.
Stop Motion trip down Yonge Street
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks to me like they started on the north side of Aurora--maybe at Wellington St, but it's been a while since I've been up there so I could be wrong. According to Google, that trip would be around 40.6 km. It's definitely a long walk, but very nice to see where I used to call home again.
American Ace Takes on Half the Luftwaffe
If you're near London, I suggest you hit the Imperial War Museum. They used to have the rudder of a Bf 110 on display the last time I was there (maybe 2004), don't know if they still do. It's not just any Bf 110 though, it's the plane of Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer with all the kills marked on it: 164 night sorties, at least 114 four-engined bombers destroyed (Halifax, Wellington, Stirling, Lancaster). On 02/21/45, between 20:44 and 21:03, he shot down 7 Lancasters.
Just to illustrate that at night, even the cumbersome Bf 110, He 219 and Ju 88 could slice through bomber squads like cheese. It's a good thing that neither Messerschmitt nor Focke-Wulff nor Henschel could build a proper two-engined fighter like the Mossie or P38 or else the losses would have been even more horrible than they were already.
