Kind girl saved a newborn hedgehog and adopted it

newtboy says...

Cute, but likely pure clickbait. I’ve seen a ton of these lately…”woman/girl finds abandoned baby (Something cute) and saves It” but they rarely show the “rescue” (and some did that were blatant setups/fakes), and seem to always look like professional breeders raising babies with all the proper equipment and knowledge faking the feels for clicks, not real “rescues” by random good people.
Maybe this one’s real, but I’ve been jaded to the genre by the fakes. 🙁

Food Delivery Apps: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO)

newtboy says...

I worked for a company called “waiters on wheels” in the Bay Area…essentially door dash before cell phones and the internet. We used handheld radios.
We got minimum wage + tips, and our salaries didn’t pay for gas and car upkeep so we survived or perished based on tipping. It’s hard, thankless work only to be at the whim of your customers mood for your livelihood.
Worse, you pay taxes as if you are tipped 15% on all orders, but the average tip was closer to 8% when you count non-tippers.
Back then, stoners were the worst. Usually paying at least partially in change, rarely a tip at all, maybe an offer of a bong hit for a tip at best.

If you hire a service to deliver, remember there’s an actual person between you and them, and you only hurt the person by not tipping, not the company. If the order is screwed up, it’s unlikely to be their fault, they can only take what the restaurant gives them. Keep that in mind, service people deserve to be paid for their work, and the tip is part of their pay.

Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies

newtboy says...

I made a 1/2 batch last night, 10 cookies, and they were amaze balls. Just a hint of chocolate bacon flavor, but the grease made the skin crispy while the insides were still soft. I tried an old cookie trick on half by rolling them in powdered sugar before baking….YUM!
It’s going to be hard to make cookies without bacon from now on.

I’ve been cooking and baking since I was 4-5…my parents sent me to preschool cooking classes. I rarely eat out….I’m too cheap (and picky).

I think I would have to taste one before making a whole batch of them first. Then again I don't do any cooking or baking . I pay people to do that for me.

Colorado CBI DNA Analyst Manipulated DNA Results

newtboy says...

NEVER trust police or any of the people they work with.

Especially important to remember if you ever sit on a jury.
Prosecution experts are rarely really experts and are paid to fabricate evidence regularly, like this woman who fabricated and hid evidence in major cases for 3 decades without anyone noticing, leading to hundreds or thousands of innocent people sentenced for serious felonies (they don’t test DNA for minor crimes).

How many hundreds of people have spent their lives or died in prison because this one tech decided the police always have the right person and faked or destroyed evidence to back them up?
How many more techs like this one exist across the country?

Shogun - Trailer

Considering its glowing reception so far, it would be a surprise if they don’t try to find a way to extend it. It’s a rare successful idea that isn’t repeated to death by Hollywood…this is already the second time around for this story (and it sounds like it’s much better than the first from what I’ve read).
It would be a shame to change countries…it’s a fictionalized but semi-historical drama, so the story can continue for centuries with barely any plot writing required, just dialog.

It's a miniseries according to IMDB. Maybe they will spin off with another country or something like China.

Supreme Court Ethics: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver

newtboy jokingly says...

One minute I’m an elitist, the next a commoner. Seems I’m the rare elite commoner! 😂

I’m pretty certain Bob never had anything resembling those desires.

Commoner? Bit elitist there, huh bud? What happened to the desire to improve humanity and evolve into better versions of ourselves as we age?

When a Lawyer Insured His Cigars Against Fire

cloudballoon says...

While your statement can be taken as fact, this story however is based on this legend: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cigarson/.

The Snopes article itself is from 2000.

Rarely are lawyers THAT stupid (those that are, gets appointed as judges by the likes of Trump to do the Republican's biddings), nor are insurers that passive in NOT fighting it out in court. They don't want these precedents to stand.

just goes to show you, money is fake and lawyers and insurers are the worst.

Chauvin Guilty of Murder as Calls for Police Reform Grow

newtboy says...

You are so dumb you didn’t notice they were reading some allegedly repeatedly copied document so blurry and incomplete even they couldn’t read parts of it and are pretending it’s an official record. You might be gullible enough to buy that nonsense, but courts sure aren’t.

You are so incapable of following along that you likely didn’t notice they are simply misstating the accusations by a disgruntled ex employee….accusations already 100% debunked at trial.

Just like every single bootlicking excuse you’ve given for these murderous cops and every prediction you made about this case, another “L” for Bobby and his idiotic tantrums.

But you knew this before you posted it. Your goal is never to present factual information, it’s to throw any nonsensical lie you can come up with at the wall and hope it sticks unnoticed. That’s what you call a “win”…it is as close as you get. It’s an “L” bob.

Edit: Just a side note, when used for anesthesia the correct dosage of fentanyl is 10-20 ng/ml…so even if this was an actual autopsy report (hint-it’s not) 11ng/ml is FAR from a lethal dose…it’s the low end of the advised amount that just makes you sleepy…for people with no opioid tolerance. If true, it would only prove that Floyd wasn’t ever fighting them, because he was sedated then unconscious when they murdered him. You never EVER consider the implications of your mensonge du jour, and as a consequence they are rarely what you seem to expect.

Birds Aren’t Real On Fox News

luxintenebris jokingly says...

Am neutral on this issue of robotic crows & such -but someone mentioned starlings.

Starlings are not natural.

1) The iridescent color is an illusion
2) They can and have spoken in English & other tongues
3) A pair raised a brood in a tree next to the house & rarely made noise

None of this is normal bird behavior.

1) am told their plumage (notably the ' iridescence') has no true pigment but the structure of their feathers. Could be that it's a cloaking device since we don't always see them around.

2) if they can speak in captivity, they must while in the flock, if only to keep their English (et al) sharp. it's proof that they hear and understand us. handy for data gathering.

3) Since the pair near us have raised littles & they only 'buzz' when ma or pa show up with Grub Hub - it suggests they are covert creatures. a trait common in spies. [also, mysteriously two of the house cats have gone missing just before they moved in.]

not saying ALL birds are bots - but if there is a place to start an investigation - Starlings are the best bet.

How do we know that they weren't behind this obvious attempt at propaganda. as if falling in love is akin to being in a murmuration...

Biden Smiden - investigate Starlings.

FBI - 60% of Mass Shooting Stopped by Good Guy with a Gun.

newtboy says...

Already listed as lies and debunked….bob is learning!

Note bob, this guy’s videos have a disclaimer that he is entertainment, not news or information, “This is an entertainment show for entertainment purposes ONLY.”

His source is one guy, Paul Bedard, an opinion columnist for the Washington Examiner…the extreme right rarely factual rag. He wonders why the media hasn’t reported it…because there’s zero evidence behind the claim.
The fbi site
https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/active-shooter-incidents-in-the-us-2022-042623.pdf
shows 50 “active shooter incidents” in 2022, only 2 stopped by civilians with guns. That’s 4% bob, not 60%.

You are so gullible Bobby. Never even considering looking into something you hear as long as you like how it sounds.

More ridiculous lies by our favorite ridiculous liar.

Orlando Police Believe They’re Above The Law

newtboy says...

I really would agree….but only if that goes for everyone. No need to ever do a high speed chase or felony stop if you have the license and a photo of the driver….but that’s not how they operate.

Guaranteed if that wasn’t a cop, gun would be drawn, hands would go on, cuffs would go on, and in most cases feet would go into belly too for disrespecting their authority and trying to run. In no world would they be as calm and non confrontational with the public. I got all but the foot in the belly because a cop read my license plate wrong once, couldn’t tell a “5” from an “S”, then threatened me with unspecified retaliation if I complained…he said remember he had my address now if I cause him any trouble over this.

My point is the “good cop” gave the bad criminal cop treatment he never would give a citizen…if he did he would lose his job. It’s the preferential treatment I’m upset about. Criminal cops should be treated like the worst, most violent and vile criminal, because they are. Instead, they’re treated with kid gloves, given every benefit of a doubt and then some, and are given free vacation time on those few occasions they have anything at all happen for violating the law and the public trust. It’s an incredibly rare thing when the entire department doesn’t stand behind, and in front of shielding blatantly abusive criminal cops and attacking/harassing any accusers, which is chilling for any that might want to be “good cops”.

Why wouldn’t it be the right thing to do to let a violent aggressive and reckless speeder (in this case he was guilty of reckless evading, a felony) who is armed just scream at the cop and drive away? Because that’s shirking their duty to enforce the law. Have you ever heard of them doing any such thing (when it wasn’t one of their own)?

American Pilots Will NEVER Relinquish The Cockpit

cloudballoon says...

This is a rare "Like" coming from me for a Neil DeGrasse Tyson video. Granted, I only watched him on late night shows, but he's always so hyper and loud and sometimes bordering on arrogant to the hosts? Never ever liked any of him there.

Somehow all the hosts treat him like he's the only astrophysicists (and/or other qualifications) that can explains science to the layperson...

But he's somber & articulate on this one. Maybe his personality is different on podcasts?

Tesla Cam captures INSANE crash

cloudballoon says...

Not an expert, but it could be a domino effect of a loose screw scenario, causing all the screws to be snapped off. Here in Toronto (Canada), we've seen significance increases of fatal accidents of these type because of (mostly truck's) poor maintenance causing wheels flying off & killed people. It's the driver's (or trucking companies') fault. The interviewed Police usually warn viewers that because we here often need (and should!) change between summer/winter tires, we need to make sure the tires are balanced and the screws are properly tightened. The garages usually wash their hands off from accident liabilities and insurance companies rarely go after the garages as well.

visionep said:

I hope everyone escaped without long term injuries.

I wonder how liability works in a case like this.

Possible scenarios:
1. Freak accident, no one is liable.
2. Truck owner is liable, but only because they modified their car from manufacturer spec?
3. Truck manufacturer is liable, faulty construction?
4. State or federal government is liable because of something in the road that make the truck's tire fall off.
5. After market kit provider or after market kit installer is liable because their modification lead to the failure that caused the tire to come off.

I wonder how it all worked out.
