Federal Income Tax is illegal, and Americans need to know. (Documentaries Talk Post)

spoco2 says...

Regardless of pure legalese nit picking, are you really suggesting you shouldn't be paying taxes?

Should you not be paying to the country in order to provide social welfare, healthcare, education etc. etc.

I know that the US has an abysmal healthcare, and welfare, oh, and education too for that matter, so there are HUGE areas in which the SPENDING of tax dollars should be improved. But cutting down on tax? Not the answer, if you can afford it then you should pay for the country to provide free education, healthcare and welfare to those that need it, it's what makes for a strong country.

Pixar's Wall-E Trailer: Vacuum Love

spoco2 says...

It wouldn't be either Tom or Tim... they'd cost too much. Just impersonators.

I'm feeling pretty good about Wall-E though, looks to be yet more Pixar wonder. Plus it has one of the best viral marketing websites there is http://www.buynlarge.com/ You really must read the terms and conditions/legalese stuff, it's very funny (scary?).

Fun with Lawyers and their Flunkies (Blog Entry by dag)

blankfist says...

"xxxx@xxx.com is a pseudo e-mail address, I'm pretty sure these guys are pulling your leg Dag."

LOL! Great one, gorgonheap! That made me laugh loud enough for my girlfriend and cat look at me like I had lost my damn mind. Very funny.

As for the email, daggers, I know where she's coming from (I say "she", because something about that correspondence sounds female - not in a sexist way). She's probably pressured to locate and contact videos from her company, and because the beast known as legalese is a monster only overpaid lawyers understand, she's probably afraid to overstep any legal approach. That's coming from a guy who signs contracts with his best friends, so... Yeah! Can't be too careful!

Revver Videos (Sift Talk Post)

An interesting talk by Revver founder Steven Starr at USC:

some notes...
Mentos / Diet Coke vid - sold $70,000 of ads. Creators got 35K.
Content is under a Creative Commons license from the creator.
Uses dynamic ad insertion - does a callback to server, for a single frame JPEG.
No ads if there isn't a 'net connection.
Rever has employees review submissions for copyright infrigement. Have only had one C&D, for 100,000 (?) pieces of content.
TV networks- putting shows online not easy. Have to negotiate with many stakeholders.
Lots of copyright liability discussions/legalese
