Australia: Case study #1 helps us understand the NRA's power

chingalera says...

For the sake of the simplest of glaring facts of the American paradigm surrounding firearms comes this thought:
To radically adjust laws and regulations concerning ANY type of weapon or firearms (including those black-powder boom-sticks that don't fit the definition of firearm) in the U.S. would mean that the criminal class which legislation and laws have CREATED through years of designed manipulation of systems, would now become an empowered and an immediate threat to the average law-abiding citizens of cities of a million or more and their outlying areas, OVERNIGHT.

Stop creating hind-brained killers, return critical thinking and common sense to one generation, and people will begin again to motherfucking govern their goddamn selves, or be planted. If Quakers and Shakers can do it, anyone can.

America can't have sane gun legislation while the prison industry, law enforcement, and all the special interest associated are being stroked by the fucks they put in places of power to perpetuate the force and violence.

Guns are tools, period. Humans are capable of using tools and have free will. Period. Laws are for monkeys to control through force, other monkeys. Period.

>>>Huge iPhone Security Flaw<<<

chingalera says...

May we suggest the most glaring (common sense with a view trumping the most gracious of mortality odds) 'security flaw' inherent in ANY similar device (including off-brand/hype models) with functionality requiring two thumbs, a pair of eyes, and a challenge to their users of navigating the useless shit whilst performing mundane tasks such as saaay, crossing a street, waiting in line for groceries, operating a motor vehicle much less, operating your legs while not looking at the GROUND? Who needs any of this engineered obsolescence garbage anyway?...The cunts who want you under their thumbs, that's who and if they are LUCKY(all indications point to this a inevitable)-you or someone you just texted die crossing a street using some ineffectual device, car wreck while the manufacturer staffs lobbyists while crunching quarterly loss numbers.

Incorporating distraction into large populations who can afford these ancillary toys is KEY to these cunts who compete to make available these consumer grey-matter-killers and it has been the goal of providing you with the convenience of your own self-importance and slow death from the OUTSET.

Use less of the shit (civil and economic disobedience), stop fawning-over it and selling it without compensation to your friends (because after all, you have nothing else to communicate about of substance or meaning since yer skills have fallen-off a bit after the in-crowd hi-jack feeds on trashing or band-wagoning the latest devices every week..(gotta have one gotgaotta have the best)) HINT: THEY ALL HOBBLE YOUR MIND, THEY ALL SUCK-

EVERYONE do the experiment collectively (don't use their services for a month and threaten to drop service altogether) and YO, maybe develop some lasting relationships along the way....remember "eye contact!?"

Watch how miraculously interesting, stress-free and simply satisfying your unnecessarily complicated, dull-fucking life changes overnight and adds 10 more quality years to it when you numb or otherwise mitigate your use of this and all tech connected by satellite or cable. Ssuddenly, the emperor has no billy-club, a birthday suit, and the obvious becomes clear:..He's a FUCK THAT CONTROLS YOU WHO SHOULD BE ON AN INTERNATIONAL SEX-OFFENDERS DATABASE.

Hey, this bottle belongs to you!

chingalera says...

@newtboy

Uhhhh, you justify a pontificant attitude towards litter (personal responsibility for an individual's garbage output meaning "FUCK ALL" in the grand scheme of planetary pollution from first-world putties like yourself) and call foul on the person who would justifiably be inclined to shove your shit back up your ass should you feel so inspired to preach to litterboys and littergirls, your sermonnette in the form of object lesson?

WHO has the death wish here skippy, the do-gooder bleeding-heart-for-the-planet moron or the guy minding his own business throwing shit out of the car window?

I'd enjoy for you much to teach me a lesson while motoring about the evils of littering over and over like this dick-cheese here did....(reminding myself never to PM someone again with a view to understanding, common-ground, or civility)

Please, continue this thread with more of your impeccable reasoning and insight

"your insane, out of control, rude and illegal behavior"

My ass sir, and since I can't direct a fuck off anywhere in particular because it might be "breaking the rules", I will make an observation: What becomes glaringly apparent here is that you see the world as you wish to see it, not unlike everyone else for the most part....

Why I Hate Composing E-mails

enoch says...

people really spend this much time and energy while writing an email?
i mean..ill look over it for glaring misspellings and poor punctuation.
(which you may have guessed i miss often)

i never really considered that someone would struggle with their own expressive nature so much.

and you guys, both @lucky760 and @eric3579,are some of the nicest people i have conversed with online.

as for fretting how someone will receive your words.
you both need to stop.
its a waste of time and here is why:
the very tool you are using to imagine how someone will read your words is your own subjective understanding of that person.

in other words.
to derive the intent of a persons words by using anything OTHER than those actual words is presumption.

we all presume.it is a human trait, and we do so by using our own subjective understanding.

this is why a liar believes everybody lies.
or a cheater is certain everybody cheats.
thieves know everybody steals..
and so on.

you both are pretty genuine.
i bet that if i met you both in real life there would not be any major shocks.
eric would be a tad anxious and unsure.
lucky would be fairly reserved and deliberative (until he got comfortable and then WATCH out).

in my opinion neither of you should devote too much time worrying about such matters.
you both are some pretty genuine dudes who should not have to worry about perceptions of other people.
thats their problem..not yours.

The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich

chingalera says...

Right...where we want you. Left, out in the cold.
"suggests that globalization and new technology are actually fueling, rather than closing, the global income gap."

^Now there's a leap-How this observation isn't glaringly obvious to anyone who thinks they can have any political sway to slow or reasonably disrupt this downhill boulder well, you may wanna learn how to voice your protest more effectively.

Caution: May require riot gear and people on the inside with a modicum of removing head-from-ass.

Egypt....Explained!

bcglorf says...

The wording "is funded by the US gov" is misleading though to in that it implies the majority of funding for Egypt's military is coming from the US. That's simply not true. The US donates upwards of 1 billion to the Egypt as a whole, the percentage that goes direct to military isn't disclosed that I can see, but it's safe to say with the military running/owning the entire country it is primarily going to the military. The flipside is that so is the majority of Egypt's domestic $230 billion GDP. The US contribution no doubt influences Egypt's military decision making, but not so as to dominate them. More over, purely diplomatic pressure from the US will hold more sway over any party in Egypt than that kind of money.

All that said, I don't see the omission as so terribly glaring. Pressure from American foreign policy, and foreign policy of ALL world governments, plays a role on Egyptian domestic matters, but it's ranking for overall influence is beneath the topics hit in the talk. The talk seems well prioritized, and US financial aid ranks even lower than policy pressure so I don't begrudge, or even find surprise, at it's omission.

If you overstate the influence of America it can quickly reach a racist point where the underlying logic is that the poor egyptians and arabs are so weak and ineffectual that they can't be expected to stand against a mere whim of white westerners.

Spacedog79 said:

It does seem an odd oversight to not mention how much money the Egyptian military gets from America. It's no secret they get billions, and will no doubt play a big role in decision making.

Cracked Chiropractor Commercial: Is This For Real?

criticalthud says...

are you an md? if you are, the number of patients you see, the treatments you can provide, and what drugs you deal are dictated by insurance and pharmaceutical companies, and you have no choice but to comply while you pay off your 200k in loans.
Do you know what iatrogenic death means, or what the rate of iatrogenic death is? check it out....
There is plenty of quackery in the western md world.

as for Chiropractic, at least they are attempting to address the most glaring hole in western medicine: the rather obvious relationship between the structure of the body and the function of the body.

And when it comes to somatic/structural issues - which make up over 50% of hospital visits, and of which the western world treats with drugs or surgery, the chiro's at least have some of the theory correct, it's just their methodology that is fucked.

But, as for fundamental quackery, let's look at how the western world treats kids. First, hook them on sugar, then call them ADHD and give them methamphetamine salt (Adderol), followed by Ambien cause they can't sleep, followed by Prozac caused they are depressed cause they can't sleep, ...all the while they are raiding mom's medicine cabinet for the oxycontin or whatever opiate derivative they can find.
yeah, it's a JOKE. But we were trained to bow to authority, call the doctor god and worship the white coat and piece of paper on the wall.

I mean, for fuck's sake, listen to the side effect list of any major drug out there. really? that's "health care". bullshit.

Western md's shine in trauma, which was learned from our spirited attempts to have a continual state of warfare. for that they are top-notch. Anti-biotics were a huge deal, but all they've learned to do since the advent of penicillin is to make analogue after analogue, and they've stuffed so many people full of anti-biotics for just about every malady, that we are becoming genetically resistant to them as a species.
health care. yup.
how many of you out there can even afford this type of "health care"?
but please, do some research and go on for hours.

shveddy said:

@criticalthud - Pretty much completely eradicating smallpox and polio, rabies is no longer a death sentence, there has been a 55% reduction in cardiovascular disease fatalities since the fifties, there is a 90% childhood leukemia survival rate, transplants, bacterial infections are generally no longer a big deal...

This is just what comes to me off the top of my head, with research I could go on for hours.

Of course there are flaws and in some cases corruption in western medicine just as you would expect with any such massively complex and lucrative human endeavor, but trying to equate it with the blatant quackery of "alternative medicine" only displays your intentional ignorance of reality and makes you the butt of any joke.

I have no patience for this kind of mindless drivel. Somehow, it has become trendy to ignore the benefits of modern medicine. Honestly, I don't care if you die needlessly of cancer because you waited too long to see some western doctors, but when scum like you try to contribute to the general atmosphere of rampant unfounded mistrust of science based techniques that have an astoundingly successful track record, then you are trying to spread your inane poison and I have to reprimand your idiocy.

Barack and Babs Share A Laugh

chingalera says...

Worked a catering gig at the senior Bush's "presidential" libarry at A&M, it's a big building without books, dedicated to the cult of personality of his legacy. Also met colonel in the Kuwaiti military-She looked like Diana Verona in the remake of "The Jackal."

They needed to give the younger Bush for his Presidential tenure and legacy, a library CARD!

The Bushes' (includes all living or dead by blood and all their offspring for eternity, Amen) were perhaps the most glaring example prior to Obama of so-called leaders fucking the world in the ass without chagrin and that also without lube or permission.

Colbert: Barack Obama-Gun Control Conspiracy

chingalera says...

Paranoia. How do people like yourself function with such skewed inability to see a forest for her individual, constituent parts.

Yet another reason to do WHAT with WHAT vote and for WHOM??! Explain the reasoning underlying that conclusion or please.....DON'T!!.....It's glaringly obvious there's a mote the size of fucking Denver protruding from both eyes.

How do THESE people function with their eyes taped-shut?

VoodooV said:

yet another reason to vote for Obama. If only to watch these retards pull another "explanation" out of their ass when Obama continues to not go after guns during his second term.

And yeah, the gun companies wouldn't be feeding the paranoia to increase gun sales...nah. they wouldn't do that.

How do these people function with so much paranoia?

Hidden Costs Series: Light Pollution

RFlagg says...

Cutting back on light pollution isn't too hard if lighting and building designers and the like would just care. For highlighting a building, rather than have lights pointing up, put the lights under the eaves pointing down. (I actually don't get why people light up their houses so much, especially if there are street lights nearby as well, that makes that much more light for a thief to have in the house without having to use a flashlight or turn on lights or anything else to give away their activity, plus it just doesn't make sense to me to highlight a house 99.999% of the time) Along the sidewalk of the local shopping center strip, they have these big 3' round lights shining light in all directions, but if they simply capped it, and had a reflector on top to direct light down and around, they could achieve better light distribution for pedestrians for far less energy, a win all the way around for them. Light is still reflected off the ground up, but isn't as intense. Street lights can be made to cause less glare and direct light better, which again saves energy while keeping the light needed for the road just as good if not better. The problem is, those fixtures aren't widely used yet, so they cost more than the normal ones (supply and demand working out there, plus just gouging). I would bet that even a major city could greatly cut their light pollution down without sacrificing safety, and perhaps increasing it, and saving energy with just a few steps. Problem is most people don't know much about it, nor care, save for those of us who would love to have a nice telescope, but find it hard to justify especially when the skies nearby aren't dark enough... Really just need to start modifying zoning laws and restrict accent lighting and do better on street lighting where/when needed (and cutting it when not needed, which is perhaps far more often the case, since it is usually just a security blanket while not providing any security at all)... But yeah, since that isn't likely to happen, not much is likely to happen and those of us wanting to see the night sky in its glory are stuck with long drives...

Sniper007 said:

It would be kinda cool if the sun started shooting out EMPs at us randomly two or three times a week for a few years. Either that, or take a boat ride out to see some 300 miles from any light source at night. Not sure how else you could avoid light pollution now a days.

Bill Burr Takes Aim at Lance and Oprah on Conan...

Young man shot after GPS error

grinter says...

The event has 'cast a blanket, or shadow, over everyone who wants to own a firearm' -- just as thousands of other tragedies have. Pointing out facts, even with a satirical tone, is not in itself political. I did not suggest that this event should motivate any political action.
Perhaps it's just that that the rational political action is just so glaringly obvious, that it seems to be inherently implied?
I also do not associate you, or any other individual gun owner who hasn't used a gun to express his paranoid fear, with the man in this video. I do realize, however, that with guns as prevalent as they are, events like this are inevitable.
You personal story is utterly insignificant considering the number of other gun owners out there, and the resulting number of gun accidents and acts of gun violence.
My personal story, equally insignificant, is told differently. I have been personally affected by two accidental gun deaths, have been threatened twice with handguns, and have been constantly bombarded with stories like the one in this video since I was old enough to comprehend them. I am surrounded by compatriots who are obsessed with tools of death. Despite this, I have never used a gun against a human towards a positive end, and (in civil society) I don't personally know anyone who has.

Darkhand said:

"Good thing the home owner had a gun so that he could protect his family and his property! "

^ this is when you politicized it. You are taking one event and then casting a blanket over everyone who wants to own a firearm.

Do you think it's funny that this kid got shot in the head? I certainly don't. Making light of it with humor is pretty disgusting. Also that you associate gun owners (myself) with this guy is horrible.

It's like saying everyone who rides a motorcycle is a democrat.

I've owned a gun for more than 10 years and I've never shot anyone with it.

Obama about Guns & Commonsense, 5 days after Sandy Hook

EvilDeathBee says...

If they want to have any impact to the ludicrous amount of guns in America, they need serious and strict regulations, not just faff about with a few weaksauce laws. I just hope Biden realises this and that the Democrats don't wimp out at Republican glares and stand up to lunatics obsessed with their guns

Ventura VS. Piers Morgan on 2nd Amendment & Gun Control

ChaosEngine says...

My personal favourite bit was when he said that guns are needed to stop tyrannical government. And as an example, when Ferdinand Marcos took over the Philippines, he ordered the population to surrender their guns.

Hang on, am I the only one who sees the massive, glaring, written-in-10-meter-blinking-neon flaw in this argument?

If the Filipino populace were so armed that Marcos was afraid they would rise up against him, how did he get to be a dictator? Where was the massive populous uprising that prevented his dictatorship?
