Today’s MAGA hypocrisy- N Dakota Republicans just cancelled free school lunches for poor children whose parents make $4.86 an hour (minimum wage for servers) saying the pennyless parents need to pay, followed immediately by increasing the amount legislators (themselves) get for free lunches to $45 per day (more than poor people earn with full time employment) because food is expensive.

I was with him until the end where he said "time is on our side"....sorry, but time actually ran out to 'fix' this issue decades ago. Now the best we could hope for is to mitigate the damage and not continue to exacerbate the effects by adding more CO2 and other green house gasses. Once the ocean warms enough to melt the methyl hydrates, the oceans catch fire (warming them even more) and the methane both destroys the air and starts the super green house effect, sending us on the death spiral towards a Venus like atmosphere. It's getting really close, people. In some places it's already happening. Put your fire suits and gas masks on.

When I was in High School, all the kids in the neighborhood would sit around and sniff gas out of the gas can and pass it around the circle.
Then one day, they found a gas mask and hooked the hose to the gas can "for a more complete high."
I remember once when they left the last guy for his turn and came in the house. When I noticed the last guy wasn't behind them, I went out to the garage to check on him and found him passed out with the mask still on.
That's what I thought this was going to be. Dumb people doing dumb stuff.
Needless to say, I never found a tight friendship with anyone from that crowd.

It teaches a few things, like the importance and effectiveness of the gas masks, keeping cool under duress and such. Mostly though I think the instructors just enjoy it. In every class there will be a few pukers, the instructors in Cornwallis know that so they tell everyone that Jell-O or chocolate milk will dampen the effects of the gas, all it really does is provide colourful vomit.


It's also supposed to give them confidence in their kit (NBC suit and mask) that it will do it's job effectively and they can experience that first hand rather than just "hoping" it works because someone told them it will.
