2022 Jubilee Cheese Rolling Contest

luxintenebris jokingly says...

there you go. split your vacation time between England and Spain.

A few days in June - chase cheese then a couple of days in July - have the bulls chase you.

If the bull running goes askew, might get out of the hospital just in time for La Tomatina Festival. <---have done that when we clear out the garden for winter.

if anything might be very good personal research on both the NHS and SNS. You'd rule any national healthcare debate against anyone who would dare to oppose you!

cheese. steak. and tomatoes. call it your 'big mac' tour.

[and - no - wasn't being serious. one doesn't run from bulls, ya' ride them!]

Fake DJs Compilation

kir_mokum says...

1. people who like this kind of trash music and pay for these trash festivals do not give a fuck about how it's done, unfortunately. this does NOT fly in most scenes and you'll get laughed out of a career if you get caught. mistabishi being a fine example (being racist didn't help either though).

2. i have no idea why these people fake this stuff anyway. it would be SO BORING to stand there doing nothing for an hr or 2. plus it is not that hard to DJ on those CDJs. PLUS THEY HAVE A SYNC BUTTON.

3. some of these are false positives. the guy at the 4 min. mark is doing shit. and aoki is searching for the next tune. the dudes with him are faking doing anything though. there's only one tune playing.

You've clearly got a lot to unload, I hope 2020 is a better year for you. You've got issues pal,

I'm sorry you feel my explanation is an attempt to argue. At least I didn't directly attribute those issues to you or otherwise personally insult you except for the fast and loose with facts bit, which I stand by....you can't say the same.

Maybe be correct instead of hyperbolic and exaggerating, and not disrespectfully snarky and passive aggressive when challenged and you'll have more pleasant discussions.

The miniscule amount of milk I drink means water use isn't my concern....but it is in a general big picture sense, especially if we all switch to non dairy milk as you suggested.

Have a Festive Festivus and a better 2020. Bye.

Can This Change Everything for DJs

kir_mokum says...

this is pretty much bang on. there are several versions of a "special turntable" which are just controllers. you can use all in one controller set ups, CDJs/XDJs in HID mode, or rane's 12 turntable, which is just a stand alone controller for DVS. all in one controllers are geared more toward bedroom and wedding DJs, the rane 12 is pretty boutique and for turntablist/party rock DJs, and CDJs/XDJs are what everyone else uses and are industry standard and in every club/rave/festival/tech rider. there is also a growing move back to vinyl in certain scenes, especially techno and jungle/choppage/breakbeat hardcore scenes.

AeroMechanical said:

I'm pretty sure the vinyl itself has nothing on it. It's all digitized and stored in a module. The "Phase" device is just a very accurate, low-latency angular-position transducer for controlling the module.

So... why not just read the position directly from a special turntable (like the other digital sets they sell)? I dunno, I guess these let you use your favorite Technics turntables from 1989 that have just the right feel or whatever.

I don't know this, I'm just basing it on the evidence that there is clearly no stylus dragging across the record, so the sound can't be coming from there.

Ed: Oh, and I guess it's wireless. Maybe that's a big deal.
