Louis opens new Macbook Air, immediately loses mind.

rancor says...

In an enclosed space like a compact laptop (MacBook Air) you don't need the fan anywhere near the heatsink. Think about a long tube; you can put the fan anywhere in it and the total airflow will be about the same. I'm a bit surprised someone experienced with laptops doesn't know this?

It seems more like he just wanted to rail against Apple products. I've been there, but my rant is usually about the quality control of their hardware.

What does a computer mouse see?

noims says...

I have two quibbles. Firstly, there wasn't a single joke about cleaning your mouse balls. There were legally required in the 90s.

Secondly, when cleaning the rollers he didn't wait until the crud was compacted enough to come off in a single satisfying strip.

I'm very disappointed. And old.

@newtboy

Sorry NEWT no brother was harmed. Nothing to see here. I realize ALL you post is bad cop vids because of your derange mind is to intolerant to accept that not all cops are bad.

Take solace newt, you will find something to bitch about this.

This is the example of the social compact between society and its law enforcement.

Funny when one is cordial, open dialog, legal, and complies with request form officers things go pretty well.

However this is NOT the narrative that FAKE news pushes day in day out, sowing the seeds of discontent just for the up coming election. If Dems win then race issue pushed to the back burner again.

What a dick, he couldn't chase it out the other side? I hope the next turkey chases him into freeway traffic. I promise to feel just as bad about it as he did.

New Math vs Old Math

The Emperor has no shoes

SFOGuy says...

That's the point, I guess. You know what to look for in a good boot (although, having to wear it for a year is sort of...hard to pull off in a shop)...But, perhaps, most people don't.

And more amusingly; maybe there ISN'T much difference in most things between the "cheap" and the "expensive" when so much marketing is involved.

I remember watching a woman who was chemical engineer explain to another woman that P&G, where she worked, basically had the same chemical base stock for all its shampoos and conditioners and then differentiated them with coloring and scent to charge 2X, 3X, and 5X for the same thing lol

I'm sure I've fallen for the same thing in my world before. I mean, sometimes it fails; for some reason, I'm thinking of when GM re-labeled its benighted "J" class cars as compacts and was surprised they didn't sell. Not to pick on GM...

Quality is when the seams don't tear apart after one year.

Unfortunately, even high priced shoes are still being made by cheap labor and usually suck.

Nocona Boots were the best cowboy boots around, but they moved everything to Mexico and still pretend to be quality boots for example.

Final Wall Placement on the Main Spillway

As the first commenter says, it's to vibrate the cement, get rid of the air voids and compact the cement...

Sedan Dragged By Truck For Miles Down Freeway

Mordhaus says...

They definitely didn't drag the car as long as the one in this video. Later I read that the driver of the compact fell asleep and drifted over under the trailer.

Soo... you're saying the driver of the compact you saw otherwise had no excuse for getting stuck under the truck?

Driver of this truck must have been getting some serious high score in bubble bobble to not notice this mess.

The Tech That Could Fix One of Wind Power's Biggest Problems

SFOGuy says...

Why is this more auto governing for high wind conditions and yet effective at low wind speeds (and therefore avoidant of overspeeding or stressing the axle/mounting)? Because it's so much more compact? Lower forces over all?

And does the low wind/high wind envelope mean that someone has to be clever somewhere else? Like in forcing a transmission to gear up the speed at low wind speeds?

Sorry, not an engineer.
